Gary, My son told me about having lot of rain when he first got here but the fusion ignition system is pretty water tight, it under the valve covers. You would have too drive it in a pond. So far everybody I know that has bought a Fusion love it. He has had special training in "A" school for driving on wet roads and various driving condition. I'm glad your son wasn't hurt,a car can be replaced or repaired.

Elbert, how is your sons Fusion. My son was driving on base this past week during a heavy rainstorm. He drove through a puddle and the engine died. He call me for suggestions. He called me back the next day and told me the car still would not start. He also told me the so called puddle was about 2 plus feet deep. The air filter was full of water and the engine would not turn over. It would only click. I told him it was probably a hyro lock, call a tow and contact the insurance company. The insurance folks called the tow and had the vehicle taken to a repair facility. They gave him a vehicle to drive and told him they would be in touch. He called today and told me the engine was locked up and that they would be putting in a newly rebuilt engine. (4 year 1 hundred thousand mile warranty) He has a $500 deductible on his policy. Thank god for insurance.

Yea, I spent 4 Christmas away from home. Kris is going out with his friends and eating diner, the same thing we all did away from our families on holidays.

This is our son's second Christmas away. Last year it was not so bad as he was in the states. His squadron had a Christmas dinner on the 24th in their hanger. There was also a squadron Christmas party on the 26th. Otherwise it is 14 on 10 off for him. I am not sure that he has been to chapel since the deployment started.

Thanks Gary and Chuck, This is Kris's first Christmas away from home and we missed him greatly. Sounds like he is enjoying Hawaii he has been snorkeling and playing golf on his time off. Sunday I called him and was surprised to find out that he was on his way to Church I use to have to wake him up coach him to go, I guess he is growing-up. Wish everyone a Happy New Year especialy our Brave Men serving our Great Nation in time of trouble. Bravo zulu and  May God Bless You throughout the 2011 Year !!!

Glad to hear about your Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at my older sons house and Christmas day at home with our middle son and his girl friend. Nick called in the evening. He was not doing much but hanging in his room. Poor kid, I wish he could have came home. The nine days leave they were going to give him was not enough to fly home and back. Most of it would have been ate up in travel. He has over thirty days on the books. Oh well maybe in the New Year.

Gary we had a wonderful Christmas.  We were short our sailor and keenly felt his absence.  Our two younger children, who are still at home, were here with my wife and I.  We were joined by my wife's parents later in the day. We heard from the sailor on Christmas eve and he is in good spirits and health.  He is weary as it seems that 14 hour days have become the normal routine in the first weeks of deployment.  He has seen little of anything but work.

Hello Chuck! Hope you had a great Christmas. My son has taken a nine day leave to tour the island. He also informed us he applied for IA. Most folks want to go to Hawaii. Mine wants to see other places, no matter what the danger. Elbert, glad to have you in the group.

My son's squadron is stationed on the Marine Base Hawaii?  He is deployed right now.
