I have been encouraging My son to use the resource that the Navy provides. Lead Petty Officers, Financial Counciling, Tax prep, and other things. I've been out too long to be good at the fine details. If you keep an eye on the Navy's web site, you will see articles on a lot of things that young sailors can take advantage of.

Well Chuck, best wishes to you son on his upcoming birthday. I do have the best relationship with Nick, but his friends seems to know better. They must have more life experience then I do..

I have three. The oldest is the one that I click the best with, not sure why? He is the most likely to listen. Not sure why. I have good relationships with the younger son and my daughter. The oldest will be 23 in December

I know what you mean Chuck. Nick will be 23 in January. Don't know when he will start listening to dad. Probably when I'm dead and gone. One day when he is 60 he will wake up and say, DAD was RIGHT.

I understand that the last minute trips are not the best. Keep positive it might work out!!!!
Mt son will not be home. His deployment will begin in a matter of weeks. His command piratically made him take leave predeployment. He did not want to come home, because he has family commitments next year. he wanted to save his leave for next year. He told us that he would be taking leave on Oahu. That coupled nicely with his brother's desire to see him before deployment. The two brothers spent a week together in Hawaii.

Not much here Chuck. Nick wanted to come home for Christmas leave. Only 20% of his division can do that. Problem is there are only (5) guys in the division. He is thinking about prior to Christmas, I told him do it now don't wait. Last minute trips never work out. I already think its too late to plan but I am not telling him that.

Chuck, my middle son Ryan is planning to visit Nicholas the sailor in January, Nick said he will be able to stay on base in his room. All he has to do is get the approval.
