The Arizona, The Mighty Mo, the Bowfin, and the Pacific Aviation Museum are all accessed through the Pearl Harbor Visitors Center. You could easily spend two days there. The National Park web site gives the details of how it all works. The Arizona tickets are free, however the only give out a certain number per day. We found it best to get those tickets first and found out the time slots that we were assigned and then plan to visit the other sites based on the time we had to catch the boat to the Arizona Memorial. We were able to visit the USS Bowfin and the make our way over to the dock and catch our boat out to the Arizona. There are many things to see and read between the “main attractions” including a couple of exhibits and gift and souvenir shops.
We were also on board the USS Missouri after our visit to the Arizona. Please be aware that some of the historical sites are on Ford Island, which is still an active military base and you have to take a shuttle bus at the Visitors Center across the bridge on to Ford Island to visit the Missouri and the Aviation Museum. You are not permitted to take pictures of everything or wander around just anywhere you want. The bus drops you off at the various stops on Ford Island and picks you up for the return to the Visitors Center.

I would recommend Pearl Harbor. You could spend a whole day There if you want to be on the Arizona tour get there early and get those tickets first. Diamondhead hike for great views of honolulu. The National Cemetary of the Pacific is very moving. I also enjoyed the Dole plantation. You should try a Luau while you are there. That's enough to keep you busy.

We are only going to have 2 days with our boy, and am not sure how much time we will need to see what is worth seeing. (my wife and I will be there a few days after he leaves.)

Ron, I have yet to visit Honolulu, Hi. I do have a place to look for things to do. Check out the NAVY 4 MOM'S web site. The group name is HAWAII (OAHU). In the Discussion Forum read Things to do, see, and eat on Oahu. Should be a good start. There are a few guys in the group. If you can sort through the lady talk you can get some good info there. Thanks for your input Chuck! If I keep this up I may become a pseudo sailor in the U.S. Navy. Gary T.
