Chuck, Ya it doesnt hurt to get a little experience somewhere else. It could help him somewhere down the line. Sorry it takes me so long to respond, I mostly work and sleep during the week . How about yourself ? Vetran ?

Mark,
I understand about the delay of getting to do what your son signed up for. My son is currently on the fight line and has been the tool room guy on the second shift. He signed up to be an electrician. As you know some times they just do what's needed and some times they do new guy work.
Andrew likes the electrical work and is learning a lot about aircraft operations on the flight line. He may not have had those opurtunities at sea with the BM rating to handle the planes.

It was awhile before he started actually doing his job . He was on honor guard detail for awhile. and just about any other you could think of. I guess he had some free time then .The Dole whip sounds great .I love fresh pineapple.Mark was talking about trying sea duty, but he has to be working in his job at least 1 year. So we will see how that goes.

Jean,
Dole Whip is a sweet treat served at the Dole Plantation on Oahu.

Welcome Jean,
I don't know what Dole Whip is (yet) but hope to get there and try one out later this year.

Is the USS Charlotte a sub? Have you search the groups for a USS CHarlotte, if there is not one there - you might want to start a group so others can find it.

My son did the graveyard shift in the tool room. He did not want to go back to days too much khaki around. He is back on days and just about done with his turn on the flight line.
Mary make sure you sample the Dole Whip!

Graveyard shift is hard and I think really effects their morale, hopefully that is a short term shift for your son.

Our son did the Dole Plantation last month - photos look awesome, it's on my list of things to do.

Does he have a girlfriend? Our son met a gal from the university and they seem to stay busy on the weekends, he has been there eight months now and still has not complained! My hubby's ship went into the yards back in the 80s there and he enjoyed it ...at first and then thought it became small.
