All,

A quick note for all family members. The weather is beginning to take a turn for the better up here in GL. I will ask that you encourage your sailors to look for opportunities to get away from base and relax whenever possible. Liberty restrictions can be cumbersome, but it is important that they get away from base occasionally to recharge their batteries. The pace of ET"A" School is not easy for everyone here and life in the barracks (ships) is not always as glamorous as it may sound. So please encourage them to utilize their liberty time wisely and refresh, because we are asking a lot from them. Good luck to them all and God bless.

Tim,
He should do well on an FFG with the satcom NEC. Small ships mean there is more opportunities to stand out and that should be good for your son. I will see if I can find any information on your son's performance here. I wish him luck.

Trevor, my Son, graduated A-school the last week of May 09' and Started his C-School the 27th of June 09' and Graduated the 9th of Novmber 09'. was on his way to join up with his ship that had already left on deployment before he completed his C-school. I wish that I could say that we (his mother and I) are his bigget supporters but, his wife and daughter far outweigh any support that we can give him. He does however call home when things get him down a little and he is looking for that little boost from mom and dad.
Trevor is an ET3 on a Oliver Hazzard-Perry-class ship. He is in satellite comms. As far as him taking his job seriously, this is the most serious that I have ever seen this boy about anything in his life. He has always been motivated by setting his sights on something and obtaining it the right way, by hard work.
So far in his 19th year of life on this wonderful planet we call home, he has made a complete circle around the northern hemisphere and has seen things that most people spend an entire life dreaming of. So for an adventure beyond his wildest dreams he has already started to experience that has enjoyed what he has seen so far in the last 6 months. I do understand about the rules of OPSEC and the security of our soldiers so I don't want to chance hurting him or any of his fellow sailors on his ship. I am though very new to this so I am affraid of what to say as I don't know for sure what I can or cannot say. Thanks for your information and the support that you give to the new sailors every oppurtunity to grow and prosper in their line of work.

Tim,
I arrived at the command in July as an instructor and was recently promoted to LPO. As far as what your sailor has to look forward to? An adventure beyond explaination. He will have experiences beyond his wildest dreams that he will treasure the rest of his life. As far as becoming a Master Chief, if your son takes his job seriously from day 1 he can be as successful as he wants to be. He must heed the advice of his leaders and those at his command who have succeeded and not listen to the advice of the "sea lawyers" in the fleet. Due to OPSEC, I may not be able to talk about your sailor's performance in open forum however if your give me his name I will see what I can do. As for your part in your sailor's career, continue to be an open ear. There are going to be extremely frustrating moments during his time and he will need continued support from home. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, I will be more than happy to answer them to the best of my abilities.

Hello ET1 (SW) Anthony S. Newell and welcome to the group. How long have you been the LPO for ET A night shift ? If you can answer I had a son go through there about a year ago. He just got pulled from his first deployment for a family member that passed. I wasjust curious as to wether or not you had met him or if you came in after he was there andto see how he did while he was in a school. and what he can look forward to as far as what he has in his future. I know that as of now he plans on staying in the NAVY. Ever since he seen the movie G.I. Jane he has wanted to be a Master Chief. Thank you for joining our group and thank you for all theat you have done to teach the sailors to become the best that they can become.

Hello,
For those with sailors currently attending or awaiting to attend ET"A" School, I am the LPO (Leading Petty Officer) for ET"A" Night Shift. I will be happy to answer your questions to the best of my ability (OPSEC allowing). I am proud to serve you and to lead your sailors through their journey to become a member of the Navy's ET force.

From the Bluejacket's Manual, section on C Schools:

This category includes schools and courses previously identified as class B.

Aussie C school... cool! STUPID DAD QUESTION!!!! what happened to B school?
Comment by Larry Jenuwine on March 12, 2010 at 9:40am
I know that the Navy has C schools in San Diego and Norfolk. Also have heard that there are C schools in Hawii and Australia. Is this accurate? Do they all teach the same courses?
