*smirk* Yes, Ang knows Rosie. Yes, we're still on the entry-prison. Personally, I like this ship. There's nothing like seeing the looks on the little indocs' faces when they find out what choices they now have for liberty and such.

Geez, Dad, you had to out me by full name and everything, really? *eyeroll*

Amen... I think and Ang will comment on this when she see's it, (I have her on here answering boot and after questions for mom and dads) Lets get the party started!

We usually hear from Rosie every day. If we lived so close by I imagine she'd be home as often as possible if only to clean out our fridge.

Boot had its ups and downs for Rosie too. I think Rose got frustrated with some of her shipmates who didn't take things as seriously as they should have. Her division had a sizable number of recruits get ASMO'd and I think they dragged down the performance of the entire group. It doesn't really matter now, but it was a big deal then.

I just want to see her get transferred to a ship she enjoys and get on with her training. She wants to get on with things instead of waiting.

Ang tends to text or call at least once a day, she likes the navy so much she wont take liberty to come home, (we're 30 minutes from great lakes) But Im sur they'll keep them busy soon enough...
Was it an easy boot for Rosie? We had ups and downs our end, but considering what it was like before boot anything was an improvement.

Clay, I am pretty sure Rosie knows Angela. The rumor mill had it that they may be moving to a new ship this week. I haven't heard from Rosie today so I don't know if that is true or not.

I think when Trevor was still on a ship (before he got his ashore orders to live with his wife and daughter) he changed ships 3 or 4 times. so tell your sailors not to get to comfortable until they start their A-Schools.

Rosie graduated February 5 as well and called me today because a bunch of ETs were moving, but not her. She was not pleased to say the least.

I see there hasn't been much discussion lately. Our new ET has been stuck on hold for 2-3 weeks now. She's getting kind of tired of doing nothing but clean the ship all the time.

Trevor just got in (emergency Leave) from first deployment we have have very little contact with him the last month of his cruise because of the low bandwidth internet aboard the ship. There was an email sent to the ombudsman of the ship to relay to the families that contact with the ship would be very little as they were experiencing a 7000 backlog of emails to be delivered. Yes to say they have internet on the ship is true but it is very spotty as Paul said earlier. when they go to port they have the option to pay for internet or try to find a wi-fi hotspot (next to impossible). One of the countries Trevor Ported in he and another guy paid $35 a nite for a room and $15 each for a 10 hours of internet.
Clay Skype is a very good program as long as they have internet bandwidth. when they move away to go to their C-school will be a very good way for you to keep up with your sailor.
Larry, They do have a Satellite phone onboard the ship to use. This phone is used mainly for emergency calls.
One thing My Daughter-in-law found out when Trevor went on deployment is that if you have a phone number with the same area code as your sailors homeport. They can call you from the ship for free, when she found this out she switched her cell number to Trevor's homeport and it saved him having to use calling cards to call her. I hope this information though vague as it is (OPSEC) will help some of you dads that are coming up to the point that Trevor is now. I know that we can't divulge to much information for the safety of our sailors, both our children and the others on the same ship. Any and all info no matter how little it may be is helpfull to all of us.
