Thanks for the info. Chris is getting his orders transferring him over to ATT today, but he's been told nothing at all about what's going to happen now.

John knew before boot graduation as well.

My son was told he was FC the last week of boot camp. He is now in ATT. I think the needs of the Navy plays a big role.

Trevor Is already through ATT, A , C schools and out into the fleet and on deployment right now. He is an ET satellite communications specialist. But to answer your question yes he found out pretty early in ATT they are given tests and the scores thye get helps to decide which way they go along with the "Needs of the NAVY".

Tim,
Does Trevor know if he's going FC or ET yet? According to one of the websites I read, they get that assignment fairly early during ATT...

Thanks Tim. I guess we'll just ship it all out here once we drive back to Boston...lol

Jim,
Trevor was able to buy his laptop and cell phone right after he was assigned to the ship across the street and got settled in.

Chris graduated yesterday, and is supposed to get his orders on Monday. He believes he transfers over to the "other side" on Tuesday, so we'll have to wait until then to see how long he has to wait to class up.
Did you guys ever find or hear of a place that has lockers where we could leave some stuff for him?...we brought his laptop and cellphone in case he was going to gradNgo, but since he's not, we can't leave them with him, and I hate to take everything back home just to turn around and ship it out to him in a few weeks.
Oh...that's another question...how long before your son was allowed laptop and cellphone? Chris says he thinks it's a few weeks, but no one has said anything definite yet...

That's exactly right. They keep them busy though. John ended up moving a couple hundred wardrobes out of one of the ships and doing a lot of cleaning. He is now on the night class shift so he goes to school from 16:00 till 00:00 every night. He loves it. Doesn't have to get up early and misses most of the watches. He also told me on Saturday when I talked to him that it saves him money because he is at class when most are out doing things around base. :)
