My son graduated on 08DEC09 and had about a 4 week wait to start ATT. He say that when he completes ATT they tell him that he will have about a 8 week wait to start ET school. They won't know what C school they will attend until after ET as the Navy basis this decision on how the appretice did and what "the needs of the Navy" are at the time. Congradulations to your family for raising a great young man. Bravo Zulo to him. Enjoy your time at PIR. It is something to see!

When did your son find out what C school he was attending?

we were in the same boat when Trevor graaduated. His PIR was in the middle 18th of August then he had a 5 week wait for his class to fill up. Hopefully Chris wont have as long of a wait. when Trevor finished all of his schools (ATT, A, C both parts )his ship was already on deployment and he was flown to join up with them. had he went right from PIR to ATT he would have left with his ship but he was almost 2 months behind the ship when he finished school. just something to prepare for in the future. when they get to thier C school they get the ship that they will be on and can find out when the next scheduled deploymnt for that ship is.

Thanks Tim. We're looking forward to it. Someone else had posted that they're son graduated on Oct 30th, and had a 4mo wait for the same school, and that the school was doing 2 shifts. Once we get there and get the last remaining "blanks" filled in, we should be all set for awhile :)

Jim it mainly depends on how many of each classification are needed in the fleet at any given time. If you remember back when Chris first got into the dep program with his recruiters they probably tried to steer him towards a certain classification. they have a listing of what the fleet is looking ahead as to what they are going to need in the next year and try to find kids that qualify with thier asvab test to fill those spots.
Enjoy your trip and especially your time with your new yong man/sailor. just don't be surprised that he wants to spend alot of down time the first day just relaxing and catching up on some rest that he has been deprived of this last week getting ready for graduation.

Anyone have any updates on how long the current wait has been to "class up" for AECF? Chris graduates this coming Friday, the 29th, and we're getting ready to head that way on Tuesday. Can't wait to see him...and we're wondering how long he'll be on class hold over at the A school.

The more I talk to Zach the more it comes out how much he loves it in Chicago. We are going back this spring, and staying down town. We are going to be the tourist family. :~)

He is all excited to show us all the cool places. He is bouncing off the walls about taking us to the Weber restaurant.

your welcome Jim all of the memorabilia in the resraunt is well worth the trip in, even if you don't eat. Once you get inside the restraunt you won't leave until after you get a taste of all the wonderful smells that are coming out of that kitchen. I myself am not a big Bears fan but I am a sports fan and alot of the memorabilia is well worth a look. I sepnt the whole timme the family was trying to decide what they wanted and after we ordered looking around and I could have spent all day there.
Jim if you do go I would suggest not driving. Take the train into Chicago then catch a cab. It will be a little more costly but Parking is very scarce in that area and when you find it it is quite expensive. I hope this helps you out with this trip if you decide to make it. I must say that it is well worth it and if i get the chance to go back to the windy city that is on eplace that I plan on going back to.

Tim,
Now that right there's a steakhouse, by any measure ;)

Jim when my son PIR'ed one place he wanted to go was to Coach Ditka's restraunt in Chicago. I had to take him to Coach's and get him a steak, I myself got the tomahawk steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. it was a little pricey compared to what we have here in Oklahoma but it was well worth the cost as i have yet to have a steak with that much flavor or cooked to perfection like it was. here's the link to it if you want you can get a look at the menu before you go and have an idea of what your looking at. http://www.mikeditkaschicago.com/
