Really looking forward to the 29th. Can't wait to see the PIR, and spend some time with the guy. Buy him a big-assed steak, or whatever else he wants.

Jim Like you have seen in some of the other groups there are lots of posts where parents say that they can't believe just how fast the 8 weeks that their kids are away at basic training goes by. I myself can't for life of me fathom that my son was gone away from home for 8 weeks that only seemed like a few days to a week. I know at the time it didn't but now that he is at almost 2 years in of his service that 8 weeks was just a drop in the bucket in time.

Just a quick update. Chris called on Sunday, spent about 3/4hr on the phone with him. He said he couldn't call Christmas Eve because he had watch. The "chapel" thing was a rumor/assumption. He said some kids went to chapel, some called home, HE stood watch...lol

He sounded great, said the weapons training went well, they were done with Hell Week, and he was looking forward to getting firefighting and gas chamber out of the way...then it's on to Battle Stations.
Can't believe it's rolling by this quickly.

Tim,
Thanks. It will be good when he gets his orders, that will fill in some much needed details. We haven't heard from him in about 2wks now, which has Momma Bear wound up pretty tight at this point. Hoping he gets to call tomorrow. We waited and waited for a call on Christmas, but I guess he decided to go to the chapel with a friend, and everyone ELSE got to call home, so that pretty much sucked.

Jim Butler,
Congratulations on Chris's enlistment and good luck on him classing up right after bootcamp.
Larry,
Trevor had to hold almost a month after bootcamp waiting for A-school to class up so don't fret the hold as he will get to see some security detail on the ship he is assigned to.
Trevor frocked up to an ET3 today on his ship. This he knew was going to happen when he got to his ship but the command has been dragging their feet on getting this done. He called last night here this morning there and told us over the phone with our daughter-in-law and grand-daughter here opening presents for christmas. This was one of the best presents that could have happened for all of us. Merry Christmas to all of you guys and gals and to the service men and women that are away from their famlies for the holidays.

Randy,

You are right. John is hoding for ATT. He is home for the holidays so hopefully he will class up shortly after he returns to Great Lakes.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Pretty quiet in here. Chris will graduate on Jan 29th, and there are a few other cruits in his division that are AECF, so it'll be interesting to see if they all get grad&go or not. We're looking forward to coming out to Chicago...only about a month away now.

Thanks guys,

Tim,
SA is satellite. On subs we had Nav ETs, Nuc ETs, and Com ET's. Navigation, Nuclear, and communications. so, yes they go off in C school and learn the specific equipment they will be working on. I am just happy to see him finally start school.
Larry,
Initially they were saying a start date of mid Jan. So they did something to speed things up which will be good for your son.

Thanks again guys

Yes Larry they do. The ATT is advanced Technical Training class, for ET's its introduction to basic electronics. A school is where they teach Advanced elctronics. Then C school is where thye teach them the Career that they will be in. Trevor's career is ETSA, not sure of the SA but Trevor is an ET Satellite Communications specialist.

Do all ET's go to a C school after A school? His orders right now have at Great Lakes for 262 days.
