Mark,

When did you say Zach would start A school? My son Nick is to start the ATT part of ET/FC A school 16 Nov. This is the first 89 days of school for both rates. If Zach has not started yet, this may be the time he starts. Just curious as Nick has a friend that is a FC that he will be rooming with.

Hey all,
My son Nick just PIR'd and his heading to the ATT part before ET A school. PIR was pretty cool. He really looked good in his uniform.

Just a quick note to let everyone know I will be around.

That is so awesome guys glad to hear that your sons are having funn and doing well. I just got word from Trevor last nite that he will be graduating from C-School a week from Monday The 9th of Nov. then will be in waiting to get sent to join up with his ship. He is super excited but also nervous as he will be leaving his family for a while and hasn't been away from them since he was in basic.
I must admit that since we have been on skype with the kids while they are in San Diego it has been fun. watching them grow as a family and watching the grand-daughter grow has been a blast also watching her grow.
We didn't get to spend much time around Chicago like we wanted to as the kids were there during the winter and we couldn't make it up with the weather so we told Trevor that when he gets free time they have to show us around town when its warm.

Thanks Larry!

I just sent him my laptop today, and we've been texting since Monday. He is a little down about the wait, but is still way up about being there.
Now I have to get a new Laptop before he gets his mine, so we can web cam.

Hello all,
Lomg time. James just called he PIRed May 15 has been through SCC,FC ATT and has been on hold for FC A school for 2 1/2 months. He classes up Friday. He said everybody is hollering jumping up down with happiness. It has been tough and boring but he feels it is worth the wait.
Mark we took James his Cell and laptop at PIR and it is the best time we have had in a long time. Zach will get bored and think it will be forever but be positive for him. There is a lot to see in the area and a lot to learn he should enjoy it just remind him there is a pot at the end of the rainbow.

Tim,

Zach is going to be on hold till June. He is taking it all in stride, you can't ever bring him down. He just moved into his new ship, and so far loves it. He has his cell phone, and we are texting a lot at night. He has duty today, but was happy he was off for Friday and Saturday. But like I said, he had his heart set on FC, so he doesn't seem to mind the wait, he said it's what he wants.

Trevor was on hold for nearly a month after his PIR. which was good for him as it gave him a chance to eat some much needed junk food. He lost about 20 pounds while in bout camp that he didn't have to loose. 6'2" 145 is not what you want to be in the windy city.
When Trevor's A-school was coming upon the end he was told that he probably wouldn't get his orders until the new fiscal year, as the Navy didn't have the funds to move people around at that time. then the day he Graduated A-School he got his hard orders to report to S.D. for his C-School. He and his family left G.L. on June 9th and had to report to S.D. the 25th of June. So Zach could be in limbo for a short time. advise him to take in all the sites that he can (within his liberty limits) while it is still warm and not a foot and a half of snow on the ground.

Zach is designated FC. I talked to him last night, and he said his A school is on hold. He is a little bummed out right now. I was just glad to talk to him. He asked if we could send his I pod, and cell phone. He thinks he is going to be on hold for a while.

Mark your son should have gotten his rating before he left for boot camp. My son Trevor had his ET rating before he was in Basic. From what I understand the way they do it now is different than the way they used to do things.
Tevor is halfway through his second C-School class and about to be sent out to the fleet to join up with his ship. I guess that will be when then emptyness will truely set in as we won't be able to talk with him as much or often as we do now. We will have to rely on updates from our Daughter-in-law and what the ship puts out.
Glad you had a great time at PIR.

My son Zach just graduated last week, I think he is slated for FC school, but I'm not sure on how that goes. I thought there was an electronics A school, then you were either sent to C- school for a specialty or to the fleet depending on how well you do in A school. This is so much different than when I was in. I went to MR A school, then straight to the boat.

Can anyone fill me in on the process of FC A school. I'm feeling fairly dumb right now.

Oh by the way, Graduation was electric.
