Tim,

From what I understand you can't get to be an E4 until you earn your rate. Then you are what is called a push button E4. I only mentioned the publication that tells what chapters in the course you have to study so you can take the test to go from E4 to E5. So I take it to make push button E4 as they call it you don't have to master every section of those publications. At lest that is what I gather from what I have read.

these are the courses that your son will be taking in ATT from what my son says. your son is wanting to test for an E4 or ready to be an E4-E5?

Tim,

Thank you for you for the details. I came across some publiscations dealing with ETs but not sure at what stage they cover each cource. Also I found another publication that tells what an E4 needs to study to test for E5 which relates back to the fist group I mention and tells which chapters they need to study etc.

well he for starters is going to have about 2 months of ATT school before he actually gets to A school. The ATT school is an advance Technical Training that the ET's and FC's go through. this is where they learn the basics to electrical and what they will be working towards. This class is a self paced computer lesson class. the instructor gives them the leson they will be working on and they can go through the lessons at their own pace. In the computer portion of this lesson they will be given steps on how to (for instance) rewire a toaster. They go through the steps and work on the lesson then when they get the lesson down they go to another computer and go through the steps minus one of the steps that they have to do from memory. each time they do it they take a step away until they can do it from memory.
like Isaid this is a self paced class so they can go through them as fast as they would like. Trevor my son graduted the 12th of December from ATT. he was a month and a half ahead of the rest of the class and the instructor had him going around and helping the rest of the class. He took a pre engineering class at Vo-tech when he was in high school and had most of the stuff that they did besides the wiring in this class.

Yes he sure did Tim. So in many respects you can help me understand what he is facing now

Trevor graduated his ATT school the 12th of December and started A school the 15th. he sure is hoping to get to go San Diego for C school but who knows what the Navy has in mind for him.

Welcome Tim,

My son is just reported for his first day of A school today at 2100erd. So it seems your son is well advanced from mine and they will not now know each other. But hey who knows in the future.
