So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Tim - my son is headed to SD, too, the end of this month.  He reports to C school the beginning of May - CIWS.  He is very worried about the government shutdown and hoping he still gets there on time!

Congrats Tim!  C school in San Diego, great!  Do you know what system your son is assigned to?  My son graduated the same time Nat did and is anxiously awaiting orders, hoping for SD too.

Yes...it was a good trip.  We actually changed our return plans and left S.C. a day early so we could swing by and have breakfast with our sailor on Saturday morning.

He's one of 3 students out of 12 that doesn't have a "red mark" in his class...lol  Some got DUIs, some did other dumb stuff, so when he grads in July, if he keeps his grades up, he'll be top 2 or 3 in the class.  Right now he thinks he'd like to stay in Virginia, but who knows how he'll feel in July :)

Awesome Jim!  Can't wait until my son gets his orders and we have a chance to see some of the fleet.  Hope your sailor is doing well, sounds like you had a good trip.

We took a ride along all of the piers at Norfolk Navy Base...amazing to see so many ships in one place at one time!  Must have been 20-30 berthed at the same time, with room for many more.

Amazing place...got my "Navy" windbreaker, too!

Some nice photos of CSCSU FCs in A School at Great Lakes that were posted on TSC GL Facebook page.  My son is the one assisting the students.  He graduated A School and is awaiting orders.  So proud of him and all our sailors!

Heading down to Charlestown, S.C. for a week of vaca, decided to go ahead and drive so we can stop off at Dam Neck and see how the sailor is doing.

Adds a few days travel time, but should be a fun trip, and this allows us to pack some of our own creature comforts for the trip, since we're staying in a rental house on Edisto Beach.  Nice to have your own coffee pot and pillows, at least at my age ;)

Hope everyone's family and friends are safe and sound,

Jim
