So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Vicki - I was channel surfing and came across their workout they are doing and Wes talks about all the time!  Looks brutal to me!

Slowing down to catch up on posts - I have the flu!  Congrats to your sailors - exciting days ahead for them.

FC1 - Pacific Beacon looks like a hotel with all the amenities, not barracks!  I think my son will be quite happy in SD for a while.

Wes is still on hold in GL and enjoying time spent with his buddies and his Navy way of life.  I think he's as proud of his accomplishments in the Navy as we are of him.  Life is good then.

FC1 - How about at the Coronado Base North Island? How are the barracks there? That's where my sailor is going

So, FC1 - E-3's  live in the Barracks which is called Pacific Beacon/Palmer hall but pays rent?  Is that right ?

Comment by FC1 (SW) Sean M. Officer on February 11, 2011 at 11:22am
A brief correction.  Pacific Beacon/Palmer hall is open to single or unaccompanied married sailors E-1 and up. E-1 to E-3 that are stationed on ship live there for a niminal rent covered by the navy. E-4 to E-6 forfeit their BAH to live there. Unfortunately he won't be here for 'C' school but Snyder Hall which is the barracks next door is quite nice as well.

Good morning all. It's been pretty crazy up here lately with all the snow last week. The big push right now is to get the sidewalks cleared of the ice. we have had several staff and students injured recently by slipping and falling on the ice.

Theresa- I would not suggest that your sailor look for housing while in 'C' school. The barracks in San Diego are pretty nice (www.pacificbeacon.com) and there is no guarantee that their next assignment will be in San Diego. I would reccomend waiting till they get to their ultimate duty station.
