So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Congrats Jim on your son Chris going to Virgina.  I'm sure both of you are anxious to move on from GL.  Looking forward to the day when Alex gets his orders.  He's been handling the weather but a little different than the 70 deg day he's used to during an AZ winter.  We get spoiled in AZ and really don't know what cold is.  People are already complaining about the 50 deg day expected tomorrow in Phoenix.  That's a t-shirt and shorts day in GL!

Hope everyone stays safe as this storm barrels through.

The storm that's currently stretched out over roughly 2100 miles may end up being one of the Top 5 storms in Chicago's history.  I think #1 brought 23" of snow back in 1967.

Talked online with Chris today...he's supposed to be outprocessing, but he said they closed the base for today and tomorrow, so he's hoping he can get it all done in time to leave on Monday.

We'll see.

Mary,

Folks in upstate NY are getting pounded with this one too...as well as here in New England.  And there's supposed to be another smaller on in the que for Saturday night/Sunday morning, and then another storm on Tues.

Quite the winter.  I'm more than certain that Chris is looking forward to Virginia at this stage of the game.

Hope everyone is safe and sound, AND warm :)

Just spoke with my son Alex.  He said they have closed classes for today in GL.  Sounds like some pretty nasty winds and blowing snow.  He's not used to this type of weather being an Arizona native desert rat!  He's still hanging in there and looking forward to graduate FC A School by end of the month.  Still deciding on his wish list, he's leaning towards Sea Wiz and Tomahawk.  We'll see, but SD orders would be nice.

Thanks Theresa, we are definitely the proud parents.  Such a true statement, the kids move out and...  it happens in so many homes.  Hope it goes well for you.

Jim, I guess I won't tell you that I'm back in ATL and it's supposed to be sunny and 60 on Saturday and I'm so ready for it after a couple of weeks in NY.

We know you are counting down the days until Chris' arrival ;-)

We're bracing for another 12" of snow here tonight.  Our temps have actually been more like GL temps lately...was -7.2 the other morning when I let the dogs out at 6am.

Chris comes home for a few days week after next, on his way to Virginia...can't wait.

Mary, congrats on Nick's NAM - that is great.  Lots of good news in your family with your new little grandbaby & all!  We are preparing for my father-in-law to move in with us this weekend (he's a widow now and has Parkinson's - poor guy).  Your child moves out and a parent moves in!

SandySS, if he gets Aegis orders - he will go to C school in Dahlgren, VA which is in Northern VA closer to DC and Baltimore airports.  Depending on what orders he gets, school can last up to nine months.  Most students really like the school there, small classes, good instructors, lots of lab work and hands on stuff and great housing complete with washers and dryers.  Our son graduated from there.

Hello everyone!!  My son is at Great Lakes A school. He will graduate at the end of March. His rate will be FC. He wants to work on Aegis systems.  Anyone know what (C)school is like??
