So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Chris is coming home on Feb 7th., a mere 4 weeks from now :)

He'll be home for 3 days, during which he has to buy a car, register a car, insure a car, pack whatever he wants to take with him to C School, and hug his mother :)

Happy New Year FC1! Can you share the process of transfer leave once our sailors get to C school?  Should they even worry about looking for a place to live beforehand - or will they find out about housing once they arrive?  I'm assuming it is the latter but not for sure.  Both my son & Vicki's will be headed for CIWS C school/San Diego - eventually.  Much appreciated and may you have a great 2011.

Happy new year all. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and got to spend some quality time with loved ones. I have been out for a bit but will be monitoring again if you have questions. Not much talk in the way of orders right now but it's early in the year yet.

Cool video Jim, must say that sailor in the center of them has nerves of steel!  I would have been ducking and dodging if those students were tossing those guns around my head!  Nice job by his team.  Our son did Honor Guard at Dahlgren and got a lot of good exposure as a result aka going the extra mile has rewards.

BR549 ----- That is awesome!!!  You may want to connect with my friend CCR, her son went to the same school and has been doing CWIS on the BlueRidge in Japan and LOVEs it!  Congrats to him.

Jim, that was VERY impressive - I know you are one proud dad!  Chris sure stands out in a crowd and he wasn't even holding a gun!!

Over the moon Vicki that Noel is going to San Diego now, too!  He will be arriving just one month later than Wes. That is really great.

That's excellent!!!  Congrats!

We also got a great youtube link this morning of Chris with his Drill Team.  He's on the left when they spread out.

Mary,

Momma bear got a hooded sweat that she's pretty fond of too.  But I like my FC Tee.  Wear it all the time :)

And yes, he's back at GL, then back home for 2-3 days in 5wks, so he can pick up a car on and drive down to Virginia Beach.  Time's flying by so quickly.

It's mighty quiet here in our little group - anyone hear of any orders coming down the pipe soon?  FC1?

Happy New Years to all!

Theresa, you are sweet but as hard as it is saying goodbye I always TRIED to respect that they had a job to do.  It's easier to send our son off as we wanted our children to grow into responsible adults and the Navy has allowed our son to really be just that.  Now saying goodbye to my husband back in the day...there were many teary days at the pier as the ship pulled away.

We have that license plate holder too -- must get one of those t-shirts for the twidget dad!
