So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Glad he's going to be about 7hrs closer to us, can't WAIT to head down to that area to visit with him after he gets there.

They are each trained to do and be their very best. I support how my son chose to do this. I do need to nip this in the bud quickly because I am getting really tired of hearing it:)

Comment by Jim Butler on November 23, 2010 at 5:41pm: Well...you could always explain that she's being incredibly insensitive and condescending, with no apparent thought towards others feelings, especially yours and your sailors. And that at this point you feel it would be inappropriate for her son to discuss this matter with your sailor. Then go on to explain that there are many ways to serve, none of them are the BEST way or the ONLY way. Everyone's contribution is critical to the success of the mission.
I'd nip that in the bud quickly, and tell her to go crap in her hat...but that's just me.

I'm on a committee with another mother in Blue Star Mothers (so I deal with her a lot in a week). This gal has a son in the marines who is a Lt. now. Daily I am told how when her son comes back home, she is going to have him talk to my son about how good her son has it in the marines as on officer, he can't tolerate the Navy when he has to be on their ships, her son can't associate with "enlisted," too bad my son didn't choose to go the officer route, and the list goes on and on! Grrrr - this is irritating me. MY SON LOVES THE NAVY ESPECIALLY HIS RATE!!

I will ask to be sure - but that sounds about right if I remember correctly because he was home Halloween weekend and had graduated a couple weeks prior to that. He says they are all checking 'bloopers' continually now for their orders - ?
