So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Mary, hi!!  My son is waiting to go to Dam Neck in September for (C)school. He will be there for 6 months. He is looking forward to starting a new adventure in the Navy. He is coming home on leave next week for 10 days. We are so happy to spend time with him. I have heard that once they are deployed visits and contact are few and far between.

Anyway, I hope all our Sailors are doing great.

Hi all,
Been awhile since I have stopped in as I took a new job earlier this year and I do a lot of traveling but my FC is out on his 2nd deployment so here I come back to the roost!

Hope everyone is moving thru school now and Jim the fun really begins now! Have you stocked up on the free boxes and custom forms at the post office yet? I keep a box in the dining room and we are always dropping goodies in it for the next care package to ______!

Michael

I believe that may be the case. Zak said he knows your son. I'll have to ask him if they are in the same class. He did say there is a huge amount of homework! Time to buckle down ...LOL

I think my son Michael and your son are in the same class. Spoke to Michael yesterday and mentioned Navy Dads and he said someone in his class said his father had communicated with me on this site

Had a great 2wk visit with Chris, now he's back in Norfolk in "transient status", waiting to meet up with his ship which just finished a port call in Sicily...he'll be bumming when he finds out he missed THAT one.

So now the main adventure begins for him.

Quick not of thanks to everyone here, especially FC1, for all the help and encouragement you pass out along with the great info for all of the bewildered parents wandering through these cyber-halls :)

And thanks to the great folks that maintain NavyDads.

LOL ... my comment from Tuesday. Found out Zak started ATT that very day.

There's a lot of randomness in when someone starts ATT.

In terms of picking orders, when your sailors finish A School, they'll get to choose they're C School, which is very different from their "duty station".

Hi all,

Does anyone know the class selection process works? My son's PIR was July 8th and he is still waiting for ATT class assignment. I was asking Michael Goodspeed about his son's PIR date (July 15) and his son starts ATT tomorrow. Just curious how it works ... Thanks!

Michael starts ATT school tomorrow. He is relieved that he is finally starting so he can get it over with. Hope he finishes top of his classes so he can choose San Diego as his duty station.

Quick update...Chris graduated second in his C school, and chose Norfolk as a duty station.  He's been assigned to the USS Monterey, which is currently out on deployment in Europe.  He's home until this Thurs when he reports to transient quarters and will be flown out to his ship.  He's pretty excited, and we're VERY proud of our sailor.
