So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Wow----that is one rumor (picking of orders) that I hate to see as factual but it gives the Navy more control over their expenses. It will probably make East coast vs. West coast sailors even more defined when there is a family involved.

Ah yeah a critique saying this is BS...not smart!!

Selfishly hoping our sailor does not fall in love anytime soon, rather he focus on his career for the immediate future. He was dating a gal in Hawaii before this deployment and my first question was...please tell me she is not a sailor. It just gets so complicated when two sailors fall in love. One usually has to compromise their career.

No worries. He's 24...and has a fairly straight head on his shoulders :)
I think he's waiting to get out of GL before he even things about a date.

And I agree, FC...not the right time. He's thinking the same thing. His Mom's the only one disagreeing ;)

Jim tell mam ato cap it! Last thing a sailor needs is baby mama drama during a deployment! My daughter is in the navy and she says it just aint worth it....... FC1 will this mean less folks graduating the present ET class will be held over? A lot of Grad and go? I was hoping for daughter during winter stand down...

Jim - Trust me when I tell you 'A' School is not the place to find "the one." It is my personal opinion (disclaimer) that people shouldn't think about having kids until they are at least 25. Especially sailors. There are to many places to see and things to do that are not necessarily condusive to a healthy relationship. Think of it as "sewing their wild oats." Gotta get all that outta the system before seriously settling down. I know I had to.

That would make Momma happy...she's making all of those grandbaby noises lately ;)

lol that's a good one Jim, I think mine's working on one of those. A girlfriend that is.

Our's complains about not having a girlfriend...think that's a pretty standard complaint ;)

My sailors happy, I haven't heard him complain about anything yet except the snow in Great Lakes. lol

Clay - I'm sure you've heard the phrase "A bitchin' sailor is a happy sailor." I'd be worried if we didn't hear it. My point was that if they want to be takes seriously, the critiques need to be worded professionally and not just a rant about how much they think the new policy sucks. =)

Jim- the 500 orders rumor is just that. a rumor. we had a big push not to long ago and all the 'C' schools are full. Orders will come as the classes open up. we just got a batch last week. As far as how long people will be on hold awaiting orders. you never can tell.
