So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

like it or not I think the navy will be hearing a lot of "BS" from sailors.... ITs why they work so damn hard.... Personally daughter want Carriers... who knows why, and either greece, austrailia, or Japan, but then again everyone wants japan.....
Thanks FC1, hats off to ya, take good care of our kids....

Thanks FC1. Amazing how many semi-tangible or intangible things get thrown overboard in the name of "efficiency".
Wonder how long it will be before someone decides saluting is inefficient?...maybe going to sea altogether?...

What a shame. However, in my time in private industry, I've observed a GREAT many "pendulum" swings within various companies, so don't be surprised if someone changes it in the future.

Thanks for the update! Glad you got time with your kids.

Any validity to the "500 orders" rumor?...it sort of makes sense, since it's the start of a new budget cycle.

Good morning all. Sorry it's been so long since I’ve popped in. I see a lot of questions. We had a pretty big inspection here over how we run the schoolhouse and followed that up with a week of leave to go see my kids in San Diego. It was a great time and I got a much needed break. Let me tackle some of these questions.

Jim/Roger - Orders. *sigh* Here's the deal with orders. The Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS) has decided that order picks are not an "efficient" way to do things anymore. There is a lot of back-story as there are things here that changed that caused the program to go to (insert expletive here.) Orders are no longer going to be "picked" the same way they were. Starting last week, Students with a 93% or above graduating average will fill out a "dream sheet" with their top 3 choices for orders. We send the graduating class lists along with the dream sheets to BUPERS and they send us back a list of who is going where. I do not care for the practice. I think picking orders was one of the biggest motivators we have here and taking it away will severely affect the amount of work our students are willing to put in. This is, however, the military and in the end, we go where we're told. If the students want to make a difference as to how orders are selected it needs to make it into the monthly and end of course critiques. It has to be well worded with the problem and the effect to be taken seriously. "This is BS" won't cut it regardless of how upset they are about it.

Paul - Class up time between ATT and 'A' School is next to nothing right now. we didn't even have enough to fill a full class last week. They should start the friday after they finish ATT.

Jim - The current Graduating average is around 87% so your son is a little above the average.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

My son doesn't want Aegis either. But it's needs of the Navy that's probably what he will get.

Nice thing about that is I think most of the Aegis C Schools are fairly long...

oh I know. He's mentally prepared himself to be there until February or March so anything earlier would definately be a blessing, they all want to get out of GL. lol It's mighty cold there in the winter.

Thanks Jim, the fiscal year rumor is what my son is hearing too. He heard 500 orders coming early October with mostly Aegis. Unfortunately, Aegis is the only order he doesn't want. He wishes to work on a dedicated weapon. I'm sure he'll be happy to move one regardless.

Don't forget that he may have another 2-3wks of ATT Phase II after his A School...

My son will be finishing A school on Oct 14th. Hope it's in time for the new orders. Last week I saw where someone said it would be a 6 month wait for orders and then they turned right around and told them no the orders would be sooner. So who knows? I hope my son gets in this set of orders Got my fingers crossed.
