So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

That story broke out in one of my groups too and I hate to believe that is the case as it certainly would take away alot of motivation away from being #1. As we all know at the end of the day - the Navy is going to send our sailors where they need them but picking orders has been a rite of passage that dates way back. Hoping this is a rumor and FC1 will stop by and shed some light. It is the end of fiscal year and budget is an issue so expect anything at this time of year.

The orders we've been hearing about are...well...disappointing.

They are for short C schools and have ship orders with them. I've been running the AECF group for almost three years and never remember seeing this happen with our FCs. ET orders yes...but not FC orders and earlier this summer we have confirmed cases of FCs going to the ship with no C school.

Hoping that Chris gets to move on soon and with good orders.

Have you heard anything about a change in the way orders are assisgned? Chris said the rumor is that there is no longer any picking based on class standing, and that orders now are just assigned?? He wasn't too happy with that rumor, having worked to maintain the highest average he could.
He's thinking he's finished with ATT Phase II by next Friday, then the wait for orders begins :)

Comment by Mary, Proud Mom on September 15, 2010 at 6:55pm: Tim - if has his cell phone, try calling him. His indoc classes would be during the day so you might be able to reach him now. He will have limited liberty on the weekends until he phases up but he can use his phone if he is not in the schoolhouse.

Reception in some of the barracks ...not so great. We used to tell our son - go stand by the window.

He has his cell phone and laptop and lockngo and the lady there told him he probably have to wait till the weekend before he would get any liberty. He had pir 09/10/10 but his orders were to start school on 09/15/10 and that's all he knew. We thought he would be moving over there today but we haven't heard anything yet. Guess we just have to wait.
