So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Just joined the group. Our son Alex graduated from BC on 6/25/10. He was the RPOC for his DIV 226 and was also awarded the Military Excellence Award. We had a great time at PIR and had the honor to meet Commanding Officer Captain Peterson and Rear Admiral Sharpe after the ceremony for a cake reception. Alex also received a letter of commendation from Admiral Sharpe, commemorative coins, and a watch. We are so proud of him. He just called us and has moved from RTC to his A School in Great Lakes. He is still going through INDOC for the next week or so and will start his ATT as FC after that. Alex is just settling in, he's with the USS Enterprise, no roomates yet but is excited to get things rolling. We're going to miss our Sailor this weekend but will be thinking of him and all Sailors. Happy July 4th to everyone!

Yeah...we're missing ours as well. We're going up to an old family vacation spot on a lake in Maine that we used to take him to when he was about 5...so that means we'll be thinking of him even more.
Hope he's doing ok...he said they went out for a celabratory shot of tequila after being accepted for drill team...been pretty quiet since then. I know he's busy what with school and drill, and that's a good thing...but sure would like to see the guy for a weekend.

I think that since he's on drill team he doesn't stand watch anymore, so later this summer I might sneak Momma out there for a weekend...maybe fly out Fri morning and fly home Sunday, just to get a little face time in.

Hi all,
Just like their "ships" at boot camp, the buildings/barracks that they are housed in for A school are named. The Franklin has been around for awhile, some of the other buildings are the Cole, the Porter to name a few.

Jim, EPIC!!! Very cool, congrats to your sailor!

Rumors, ah rumors - they have always been so rampant at A school. Don't remember that ever being the case at C school. I do trust that FC1 would have the best handle on this situation.

little odd Tim...the only USS Franklin I know about and can find on the 'net was the carrier...."The Ship That Would Not Die !!!"

Congrats Jim! That's fantastic.

So my daughter posted earlier she's the newest Yeoman of the USS Franklin. What does that mean? Is there more than one? And I thought the USS Franklin was an old carrier. Am I completely missing something (which wouldn't be the first time). Or is there an old carrier anchored off the Waukegan shore?
Thanks Ya'll
Tim

Just got a message from Chris that he made drill team...
The exact message is "Made the drill team! Epic!" LOL
Great text msg to get from our sailor ;)
Wish I were closer, I'd certainly by the steaks and beers.
