So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

I almost forgot to cover the topic on every student's mind lately. Orders. We have received a metric butt ton (that's slightly larger than a standard butt ton) of orders since Millington came back on line from the flood. Somewhere around 400 sets over the last 2 weeks and we are getting more soon. The Admiral that runs the show down there is personally involved now because we had over 700 students sitting here doing a whole lot of nothing and that is unacceptable. I expect that number to be next to nothing here in the next couple of weeks. I wish your students good luck in getting what they want but tell them not to hold their breath.

Thanks so much for the quick response FC1 - That's great news. I know the Living Flag was alot of work but THANKS to all who participated those of us on the outside thought it was AWESOME. What a great thing to be a part of history. Great Job for EVERYONE involved. Thanks again for the update. Have a great Weekend!

Noelsnavymom - Noel actually came through our Office today. He will be classing up on July 1st. June 25th if someone doesn't show up.

All - Sorry I haven't bee on in a while. Things are a pretty hectic around here. We have a change of Command coming up here on Friday so we are trying to adjust to a new Commaning Officer. Lots of policy changes. The Living Flag took up alot of our time as well. Most of the staff here weren't to happy with that whole evolution because some of your struggling students lost alot of study time preparing for it. We actually had a few fail their tests due to not enough time to prepare. It is what it is though and now that it's over, back to the grindstone. Some good news. The schoolhouse's Awaiting Instruction population (the students waiting to class up) is down to 103 for all 4 rates in the schoolhouse. What that means is shorter wait times to get into school. The ET's are seeing the biggest difference. They are at to 2 weeks now, down from 3 months. The FC's are also sitting right about 2 weeks. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will be sure to check back soon.

YAY - my son finished up ATT last night, he was very excited when he called. now waiting for A school to start - 1 step over and ready for the next. Hoping it won't be too long. FC1 is it still about 2 weeks? GO NAVY!

Tim,
Welcome to the group. Our son didn't know until he finished Boot camp. If you read some of the articles above this box, it explains a lot about the various schools. When he finishes Bootcamp, he'll go to ATT, then A School, then C School. They all vary in length.

Difference between ET and FC is that FC's support weapon systems, ETs support everything else.

Spoke with Chris again yesterday. He got to take part in the "Living Flag" ceremony. I guess it's the first time it's been done since 1917 at Great Lakes?
Anyway, he was glad he got to be involved. He also said that A School is much more challenging than the ATT segment was. I told him it's supposed to be :) I asked him how he was doing on the tests, and he said he hadn't failed any yet...different response than ATT where he said he was in the 90's every time. Good to see him challenged.

That's great! She's been on computers her whole life, so, she's quite comfortable and definitely in her right environment. 7 wks should be a breeze.

She should have a blast. It's a lot of computer-based learning, with instructors standing by...and I think it's about 7wks long.

Thanks Jim! She's starting ATT school. And even though she's been around computers and electronics her whole life, I'm pretty certain she's never done any soldering. So this should be interesting. I'm really looking forward to this......Tim
