So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

TimS,
That means that she's off "hold" and starts learning stuff. If this is her first class, she's probably starting ATT, which is sort of the basic electornics that they need before starting A School. If she's already completed ATT, then she started A School which is the first prolonged school she'll attend, should be about 12wks, I think.

Alison is classing up today. So, what does that mean exactly?

Paul,
Mrs would love for her son to be home during the holidays, but I think that's doubtful at best. Chris should finish up at GL around the beginning of October, and I would expect he'd be off to C School before the holidays, but we'll see.
If he gets a school in Virginia, that's much closer driving distance for us, so we'll see.
I just want to see him get through A School ;)

Jim - It's great you heard from Chris. Hopefully the extra 2 weeks helps get more of them onto the drill team. I hope he makes it.

Zac is out of A School and ATT and just waiting for orders. He wants to take leave in July, but doesn't want to miss any sets of orders coming out. I don't blame him. He'll just have to wait and see how things go. The flooding down the in Tenn/Kent didn't help any.

Heard from Chris yesterday. He and some friends went to Chicago for the weekend, took in a movie, then went out to a bar for beers. Turned out there were 2 different bachelorette parties there.

Ahhhh...the sailor's life! LOL

Anyway, he said that A School is definitely challenging him, and that during the week, his days are completely full from the time he wakes up at around 4:30 to the time he finishes studying, around 11pm. He's finding it challenging to study and practice for drill as well. He said that he's waiting another 2wks for the next drill team trials, as they think the sailors who are practicing needed another 2wks or a large number would have failed ;)

Haven't heard from Chris since he started A school a week ago. Can't wait to touch base with him this weekend and see how his first week went.
I think he said try outs for Drill Team were on the 7th, so it will be interesting to see how that goes as well...

Exciting times!

Mary,
I called the NEX Photo Lab (847-578-6201) and they were very helpful. The show stopper is that our young sailor apparently was overwhelmed at the time of PIR, and FORGOT TO ORDER ANY PICTURES...

LOL You can imagine that Mom is a bit less than pleased. Probably good that it's a 14hr drive. :)

Mary,
That's a great idea. I wonder if we need any kind of code, or if we can give name/PIR date. I'll call them as soon as I dig out the number, thanks!
