So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Andrew- It's looking like it's going to be closer to May 21st, give or take a week, depending on how quickly he completes ATT. We got backed up in the radar labs and a few classes had to hang back and wait for the class in front of them to finish.

Paul- Unfortunately we aren't getting any orders from the FC Detailer right now. The current pattern seems to be about every 2 months. We saw 80 sets in January and another 80 in March and haven't seen any since. We currently have somewhere around 500 students who have graduated or are about to graduate that still need to pick. It could be a while depending on how many we get per batch and how often we get them. =\

Zac just finished A school about a week ago or so and in in the ATT refresh. He said,"I got the night class this time, Yuck!" I know how he feels. I hate working at night too. He isn't sure how long until he gets C school orders or whatever. I think he was fairly high in the class rank.

Andrew, alot of them are really challenged towards the end. I think the "radar" segment was a real bug for many of them.

According to the boy, he'll be finished with A school this week ... good for him! I guess he struggled a bit towards the end, but he happy and doing well! He's looking for five inch, so hopefully he can get those orders.

Anyone elses kids completing A school?

FC1, will this affect his final graduation date? I remember you anticipated his class would comp May 4-7.

Jim - Hold from ATT to 'A' School is 4-5 weeks right now. =/

Ricky- Tomahawk has schools in Damn Neck, VA and San Diego, CA.

I think Chris is so excited about the whole program in general. And they really don't have enough information at this stage to be able to assess the advantages/disadvantages of one over another.
My advice to him, which needs to be constantly reinforced, is wait until you're about 1/2 through A School and ask some of the instructors what their fav system was, and more importantly, why. Then he'll be able to sort some things out.

I remember in the recruiter's office, one of the sailors in there told Chris he personally didn't want to have anything to do with a large ship, for one simple reason: smaller ships go to more ports, and stay at sea for shorter periods of time between ports, just by nature of the fact that they don't carry as much with them, and that sailor's goal had been to see as many different ports as he possibly could. That was pretty good insight into something young adults joining might not think about.
I know he wants to be part of a team, and he wants to feel that he's making a contribution. Those two things are important. So we'll see what happens. I think FC1 mentioned earlier that the hold was roughly 1-2 months, I think he's got some downtime now to get back in the swing of a "normal" shift instead of going to school from 4-12pm.

That's great Jim. It's fun to see how excited they get when they get classed up.

Zac has told me he wants ACNT. He said ACNT and radar where really fun areas of the curriculum. We'll see. Hopefully it doesn't take all that long for him to wait after he is finished in GL.

We talked to Chris on Sunday and he thought he'd be finished with ATT on Wednesday. Now we'll see how long the hold is for him to start A School.

I think Tomahawk is in SanDiego, you do have to be able to obtain a top secret clearance for Tomahawk.
