So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Petty Officer Officer, I am sitting on the side lines and want to add to the compliments that are being offered up to you for your time in keeping us all informed as to the process and time lines. With your busy schedule, I'm sure this takes some time for you and it is appreciated . My son has yet to start A school so I just watch and listen
Thanks

Good afternoon all,

Where to start? I feel like i've been hit by a bus today. I should be home in bed =).

Mary - I spoke with the local detailer and here is the official policy for that situation. There are alot of factors that play into that decision and we address them on a case by case basis. We will TRY not to transfer him during the month his wife is due to give birth. We make an effort to transfer them the month after because 'C' schools do not grant Paternity leave until after they finish school. Some of those 'C' schools are 6 months long. It will also transfer them one month before the due date. At the moment, we have 370 students waiting for orders and no idea when we are getting another batch. Our first batch this year was in January and we didn't see any more until mid March. Both batches were under 80 sets of orders so the young man could very well be here for 3-6 months before he even has an opportunity to pick.

Andrew - We see orders for every single system we have as FCs. There is really no way to tell what we are going to get until the detailer releases them to us. I have been trying to pick out some trends but there really are none I have been able to find. The length of Hold between Phase II ATT and transfer to 'C' school depends entirely on the student's orders. Some are a week, some are 3 months. Again, there is no way of knowing until we receive them. As far as 'C' Schools in San Diego...I wish him luck....San Diego 'C' schools are the first to go. his average will place him squarely in the middle of the picking order since he is not picking agains just his own class but against several classes. Usually the top third of the students picking have averages above 90%. Mk 15 Close-In Weapon System(CIWS), MK 86 Gun Fire Control, MK 160 Gun Fire control, MK 92 Gun Fire Control and Tomahawk all have schools in San Diego.

Tim- Welcome aboard and thank you. As you daughter gets near the end of Phase I ATT, let me know who she is and I will keep a closer eye on her and how she is doing. Usually if I don't know who a student is, it's a good thing. It means they have not come to see me for Academic/Disciplinary issues. =)

Mary, thank you for pointing that out.

FC1, what systems are the most common that are being made available?
Comment by Mary, Proud Mom on April 9, 2010 at 6:49am
FC1 ------here's a different question for you about one of your A school students.

He has a wife that is pg and the baby is due about three months after he graduates from A school. One of the yoeman told him he would not get orders to C school until after the baby is born. Would they keep him in GL for an extra three months or so due to the pregancy?

Andrew in the FAQs, FC1 included some information about the order selection process. It used to be that the orders were picked in the last couple of weeks of school but now I hear that a student can graduate and then be in GL for a couple of months AFTER graduation waiting for their orders. Perhaps FC1 can confirm if that is still happening.
