So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Do they have guest quarters available for visiting family?...or are you on your own for a hotel room?

I tell families almost daily, don't rush the schools - when they are over...it's over...it's fleet life baby! And that can be great for the sailor but those phone calls home are seriously impacted by their busy schedules!

We are going to visit after the first deployment is over :-)

That's incredibly exciting. One of the reasons Chris joined was to travel. I know there's a part of him that wishes he was out there now, instead of in school, but he's also glad he's getting some good training.

so when are you going to go visit? :)

Every step of their career is really exciting - it really can take them in any direction. Our son has completed his A and C school Jim and is now part of the fleet and is homeported in Hawaii. He will be experiencing his first deployment soon.

Chris's recruiter told him that it was pretty much a %100 shot that he'd get to go to whatever station he picked, but that was based on the fact that the larger bases need so many of EVERY skill.
Now that it gets narrowed down to AECF, and then further narrowed down to FC, I think slots get tighter and tighter.
It'll be fun to see what happens next for our sailors.

I think that is right Jim so then my question might be...why have dreamsheets?

I love the details that FC1 provided in FAQs - Do ETs still complete ATT in one setting? Is A school the same length for ETs and FCs? It seems like ETs always leave A school with their ship orders in hand. Is this right? I've known very few FCs that know their ship orders when they leave GL but it seems like the ETs often know what's ahead. I feel like it is because their C school is a shorter program. It seems they may have two or three C schools but collectively they are not as long.

Sorry for all the questions but I support both ETs and FCs families.

I'm bettin' you get first pick of what's posted...but we'll see what FC1 says :)

Love the FAQs!!! Yes Jim - our son has "brown" eyes!!

How does the "dream" sheet work? Is it by GPA, then location, then ship type or???

For example, our son knew he wanted to be on a smaller ship such as a destroyer or CG. His first choice would have been Japan, he was honor grad for his class in C school so how do these things come into play or is it...

Here's the orders that we have, you have first pick and off they go?

I added a FAQ section in the discussion section above. If there are more questions you would like to se added, please let me know and I will do so.

That IS kinda funny :) Like saying everyone who does NOT have blue eyes, stand over here, you're FCs.
