So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Thanks my sailor finally leaves GL on Thurs.  He is soooo excited it's been a very long 1-1/2 years.  He's heading to San Diego coming home first then reports there on June 4th,  Can't wait.  We'll be visiting this summer.

Congrats to all those with Sailors currently in or going to C School.  Our son Alex is reporting for CIWS school in San Diego in mid July.  He's going to stop in Phoenix on his way from GL and we're looking forward to seeing him and spending some time together.  San Diego is nice, went to college there, weather is beautiful especially during the summer, beaches are great, and it will be much closer for us to visit.  As FC1 indicated, there are some places to avoid but overall you can find some nice places to stay and there are a lot of things to do.

"Put drop" was a grammar/typo on my part.  Meant to say that they drop the orders on a table and let the students figure it out.  He said it's not as complicated at it sounds.  The women in the class get "woman orders", as they can only serve on some ships, and it's sort of an unwritten rule that sailors with families get family-friendly orders.  Then they figure it out from there.  I like the idea...teaches them that they're adults, and this is a problem they need to work through.

He's in Virginia Beach...hoping to stay in Virginia.

We'll see.

Jim, where is your son's C school? I have never heard of "put dropping," orders before.

Talked to Chris this weekend...he's supposed to graduate from C School July 12th, but they told him his class should expect orders anytime in the next 3wks.

He said they do order assignments differently there.  They put drop the orders in the classroom and leave, then come back in an hour...so the students get to figure out who gets what among themselves.

Interesting concept ;)
