Gail our Gator Sailor has had an eventful 7 months and not one moment underway.

She Married IT-02 Adam Schnell on Feb 20th. Since December she had been under

care of an Orthopedic Surgeon for her shoulder. She finally had surgery in May...multiple

tears and will be out of normal duty for 4 months. She calls it limdu...knowing Gail I think

she is running a supply warehouse on base.

My Gator Sailor is on her first deployment on the U. S. S. Arlington.  She is a QMSN onboard.  I am quite proud of her!  My wife and I got to face time with her tonight before they head out to sea tomorrow.

My Gator Sailor serves aboard the USS America LHA-6.  They are in San Diego working hard 6 days a week, getting ready for a busy summer.

Phil that's awesome! Same here my Gator Sailor is also at NBSD enjoying it all after coming back from deployment not too long ago...

Step-son is on the Mesa Verde, LPD 19, Norfolk, the Verde has been in maintenance since he arrived for over a year, undesignated going in, working on BM rate, loves being a deck monkey.  Wants to get out on the high seas and see the world even if its mostly water.

Dennis that's cool LPDs are awesome ships! My son is on the 23 and I've toured it twice and the experience never gets old... Good to hear your stepson is passionate about his job and loves the high seas. As for my boy, after his return being out for 7 months, he says he's never been so happy to be ashore heheh...

Gary, he hasn't been out to the big water yet, just 1 short trip across the bay and up river.  He is excited and it is fun listening to the calls to his mom, sometimes I have to stand by with the Navy dad site to translate for her.  After 30 plus years in law enforcement it was fun listening to him go through force bravo training, been there done that stuff, pistol, rifle, shotgun, pepper spray etc.   Can't wait to go visit him and see the ship, his mother went last spring.  He wants to take us to the Wisconsin, I have already toured the N Carolina, don't know if I could live in those tight berthing areas.   Proud of him, plus his deck crew looks forward to the care packages from his mom for all of the baked goods.

Yes on those tight birthing areas! I was lucky to have an opportunity to go on a Tiger Cruise with my sailor on the LHA-6 what a great experience. Toughest part was sleeping in the tight coffin like berthing, I'm 6' 3' inches tall and about 250 pounds. That's gotta be pretty close to the limit of sleeping there. Overall it was a great experience and I loved seeing my daughter at work, and we got to check out every part of the USS America, got to eat their food (no, they didn't bring in better food for us which is fine with me), and meet Americas' best and brightest aka the whole crew.
