The prayer ceremony followed a joint U.S. Navy/National Park Service ceremony commemorating the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The theme of this year's historic commemoration, "Pacific War Memories: The Heroic Response to Pearl Harbor," emphasizes the brave efforts of those who fought at sea, on land, and in the air, to turn the tide in the Pacific. More than 2,000 distinguished guests and the general public joined service members, Pearl Harbor survivors and their families and friends for the annual observance. It has been since April 12, 2012 , since my last log on. Well Chris is due back in August of this year, he has been gone for almost a year on his second deployment. Unable to tell anyone where he has been. This second deployment has been alot better for him. He has completed four years and looking forward to reenlistment back to active duty and a different kind of job. Retaken the ASVAB test and got a higher score. How is your son doing? Hope everything is going well.
Mike, thank you for your comments. I agree with you... it's an honor for Arizona to receive this gun barrel from the USS Arizona. Especially as we celebrate the 100th year of our statehood.
Glad to hear that your son Chris is doing well. I'm sure he's really looking forward to that leave time. My son is also doing well... thank you for asking. His ship returned from deployment a few months ago. But, he and his shipmates have been very busy since then preparing for INSURV. He has also completed nearly 4 years in the Navy and is scheduled to re-enlist sometime during the next couple of weeks. He plans to re-up for 6 years this time around.
Thanks for the info (Billy's mom). I just read the article and that's great for the State of Arizona, especially during the centennial year. How is your son doing? Currently our son Chris is on his second deployment overseas and is due to take some deserved leave soon, it has been almost a year. It has been almost 4 years that Chris has served in the U.S. Navy.

18 Sept 2011 , I haven't logged on for a while due to the fact that my son has been home. My son chris is assigned to NOSC Phoenix as a MA- PO3 and has a full time job as a cillivan. Well he is getting to ship out again for a year or more. His first deployment was 17 months. Hopefully, I will have an opportuntity to respond to comments when not to busy due to current work schedule.
