When my SR graduates we will meet him at the airport.  Can or should we bring his Lap top computer as well as his phone?

As a CTN dad, I would say yes, as long as he knows to save room in his sea bag or if he is prepared to take it as a carry on. Once he gets to Corry he will be able to use them.

We took our daughter's phone and laptop and gave them to her at the airport. But, she kind of regretted taking the laptop since the internet access in her barracks at Corpsman school in San Antonio was non-existent. So, laptops are hit-or-miss and they don't really need them for schoolwork. We ended up hot-spotting her iPhone for her laptop. But, that also runs into extra data usage $$ per month.

Thank you.

Is it worth hot-spotting my sons' Phone for his laptop? once he has it will it be good wherever he goes, and what does it cost?

I've heard mixed results from people who use tethering on their mobile phones though the technology continues to improve. Coverage of course will depend on the mobile provider and check to find out the data tier plan options you have so you can get a good idea of what it's gonna cost you.

Jerry I've also worked with folks where the security schema options on the mobile tethering device does not match any of the ones on the laptop so it couldn't connect.

To be safe I'd go with a 4G LTE Mi-Fi. Most models can accomodate up to 5 and Verizon came out with one up to 10.

We just got son into Great Lakes A school and orignally went with the verizon 4g, 5gig data plan was chewed up in a weeks time. we returned and got a 4g service called clear. you can get it at best buy or over the net for purchase. $49.99 a month unlimited data. so far seems to be working fine.
