My son is in week four of boot camp, and mentioned a DMI inspection. My wife and I were in the Navy eons ago, and have no idea what DMI stands for. Any ideas?

Dave it is role call, just like in school. So in A school they might have to muster at 10:00 p.m. every night to make sure everyone is there. Even with the fleet my son has to muster every morning before work. And yes they do not like it but it is the way the Navy keeps up with them.

Tony,
If you haven't heard from your son yet that is probably a good sign. My call came from Billy in the early evening hours on that Wed. before PIR.
I'm sure he will do great! I know you will enjoy the graduation. It's very patriotic and an event you will always cherish and remember.
Will your son be able to reach you by cell phone?

Tony have a safe trip. I'm sure you won't have to turn around. Bundle up and enjoy PIR. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Well we're leaving early in the am. Still haven't heard from our son. I guess we'll be half way there when he calls. I hope we don't have to turn around. I was worried about the Chicago weather, It's been like summer here but they are calling for 40mph gusts in the carolina mountains and a lot of snow. We usually are not as efficient at clearing the roadways as our northern states. Hope we stay out of the ditches. Has anyone heard from their son or daughter in div. 062 or 063? Thanks for all the info.

Thanks,
My wife just found out on navy4moms that his division will have battlestations on the 7th. So if he is up all night and calls when its over, we will be on the road when he calls. He has been doing good so far but is always worried about the next test

Tony his division should do battle stations this week. As soon as he passes that he'll call home. If he's been doing good up to this point then battle stations will not be a problem. I would guess the call will come towards the middle of the week. They try to give the parents word of passing and addiquit time to travel to PIR. Have a great time in Great Lakes. It is a trip to remember.
