Navydads Creator..You are correct,,,But he has been home for 3 mths now..Navy hq called 2 times now and says still not in the system, Please wait 30 days, I personally talked with his recruiter and he tells us there is nothing he can do ,Wait for HQ, He had never seen this happen before.

JLittle he needs to do 3 to 4 drills in the reserves and then put in a 368 form. It is a release form to go from reserves to active duty. He has to take an active duty exam. So he can switch to active duty. Talk with his recruiter. He should be able to fix this

Just trying to extrapolate from the information you provided I read that your son found A school to be (in your words) to tough for him to cope with it and was reassigned from A to the reserves. If this is true he should have had orders telling him to report to the reserve unit in your home area. In any event he had to have some type of orders that took him from A school to home. Older more experienced hands here can correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that usually when a sailor fails A school he is reassigned to the fleet as a non-rated sailor and ends up chipping paint. zSo it hard to understand why he is at home. I might also just ask what has changed? If he were reassigned back to A school is he tough enough now to handle it? I think most would agree that if your son graduated boot camp that the tough part is over. From what I have learned A schools are not known for being the pressure cooker that boot camp is. Or by tough do you mean your son was having a hard time with the lessons and the learning process of A school. If that is the case them perhaps he could seek a second chance in some other A school for which he is more suited for. I really doubt he would want to go to the fleet as a un-rate sailor. Not sure if any of this will help you but your case seems perplexing to say the lest

This is a question for a recruiter to answer...we have a Ask a Recruiter group, but I think you should call HIS recruiter, set up a time to talk and do a face to face to try to get some answers. We have a number of active sailors on the site and perhaps they can be a littel more help than can I. regardless....keep the faith and know that your sailor is in our prayers.

Hello Everyone..I'm new here, And have a few Questions , And Hope i can get some help or other info..
My son Graduated Boot camp and was sent to A school. It was to tough for him , So he was to be reassigned in the reserves, Well he has been home now for almost 3 mths..He had Checked into the Navy Headquarters in St.Louis ,We were told he wouldbe contacted in 30 days to report for duty,,29 days went by and we received a call that he was not in the system, Please wait 30 days..Well, waited 30 more days, Received another call, NOT IN SYSTEM..Please wait 30 more days..That is Just 1 problem..The other is when he sighned up for the DEP programs,WE (parents) thought we had sighned him for active NOT Reserve..He wish's to go ACTIVE DUTY..But Somehow he is sighned up for RESERVE for 8 yrs..Can he go Active duty? ANY HELP will be greatly Appreciated

GREAT LAKES, Ill. (NNS) -- The Navy's unique, high-tech simulator of shipboard emergencies to test Recruits at Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes won a national award for construction project excellence Nov. 3.

Battle Stations 21's USS Trayer, a life-like mockup of an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and its surrounding 157,000-square-foot building, was recognized by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) as the best overall design-build project in the United States for 2008, cited for exemplary interdisciplinary teamwork, innovation and problem-solving in creating the one-of-a-kind facility. The project won "best overall" over 29 winners in 13 categories for DBIA's annual competition.

"It's such an honor to accept this award and represent the Navy side of the team that brought such an important, complex project to life," said Capt. Jake Washington, commanding officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Midwest. "Thanks to a tremendous amount of hard work, innovation and attention to detail by people from NAVFAC, McHugh Construction, and NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command), the Navy has a cutting-edge, utterly convincing simulator that prepares our Sailors better than ever before to face emergency situations at sea."

DBIA's National Design-Build Project Awards recognize public and private construction-related projects that successfully demonstrate design-build principles including collaboration, integration and finding unique solutions for project challenges.

Constructing Trayer, its support systems and its surrounding building, which also houses RTC headquarters and Recruit Division Commander School, took more than three years of close coordination between construction and contracting agent NAVFAC, the simulation and training experts at NAVAIR, and Chicago-based James McHugh Construction Company.

In addition to conventional building requirements, Battle Stations 21 also has to support special effects technology from the theme park industry to simulate shipboard scenarios including fire, flooding and mass casualty events.

"This is a wonderful recognition by industry of the groundbreaking work done by the Navy and our commercial partners to support our Sailors with the best training possible," said Washington. "Thanks to some superb, sustained teamwork by project managers, engineers, design experts, construction professionals and many others, we have a uniquely effective facility that will serve the Navy's needs for many years to come."

Thank you Michele for adding that....I should have emphasized that aspect of Battle Stations and that the concept of "shipmate" is core to Battle Stations. Actually I think Eric said it best the evening before he left on his seven-month cruise on the Roosevelt: "As in the rich naval tradition since October 13th 1775 I sacrifice my time and being to put my life in the hands of my fellow shipmates who in turn puts those same trusts into mine." It is that tradition of comittment to shipmate that has generated so many heroes over the years!

Bill - Navydads Admin. is wonderful in finding just what we need :) I suggest viewing those videos also. One thing I would like to add though. . individuals don't pass Battle Stations, the whole division has to pass as one! If one recruit falls short then the whole division does, but as my son told me, when one of their shipmates seems to blunder the rest of them assist 'em so it is a team effort :). My son said Battle Stations is as real as it gets to what can happen and has happened in the past, prepares them to endure the rush of an actual attack on the ship and in the face of an emergency shows if they can stay focused on their job. Battle Stations in short is where heroes are born!! All our sailors and armed forces are heroes on a daily basis. . . .just my small take :). . . .Michele

Hi Bill--- If you CLICK THIS LINK you can watch two great videos about Bootcamp at Great Lakes. In particlur there is a section in video 2 about Battle Stations and how important it is to the Navy. the video should answer many of your questions...if a recruit does not pass, he will have to redo Battle Stations - you must pass to get "capped" and to graduate.

Greetings all, my son is in Div. 060 due to grad on Jan. 9th I see references to Battle Stations and I am wondering what it is all about. What happens to those that don't pass? What is involved. I read that it is 12 hours long and they don't get any sleep the day before. I hope someone can give me some info. Many thanks, Bill
