NC1 Ericson,

I addition to Tim's questions how can my son stop them from taking the money back out of his check when he never eats in the mess. He says the mess is always back up 3 hours wait and he would be in big trouble if he waited to get feed in the mess so he eats at the fat food places when he can most often he goes without because time doesn't even allow going for fast food at GL. His food card has never been activated. Hopefully after he is out of SCC and in ATT this will change. He has 4 days to go in SCC.

Greetings. I have two questions. Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Why does the Navy charge for food?
2. Why does the Navy charge for MGIB?

My son is in Corps school. I noticed all these deductions in his pay. I don't remember that from my Navy days, a long-long, time ago!

I thought these were benefits.

Thanks...

NC1 Sean Erickson,

Do you have anything to offer on how NETC decides who gets first priority at SCC and who has to go into a wait period. The rumor mill is claiming it is based on the enlistment term. Shorter enlistment rating go through first because those with longer contracts can afford to wait longer. It has come to my attention that after NETC stands up a new school it takes 5 or more years to fully staff it thus SCC currently is a large burden that is weighting down all the schools at GL because they had to pull staff from other schools. Would a bigger budget help this situation if it is true or is it just the nature of the beast?

Charles, your son needs to put that on his dream sheet one of the first days of class. He will be asked were the top three places he wants to be stationed and they will try to get one for him. This dose not however mean he will get it, after the first or second test in school they will put all the orders people requested up on the board and from top to bottom of the class as far as ranking of test scores will get to chose first.

Thank you ALL for responding to my query. I have met with the local recruiter and the seal traineer and we are on track toward reconciling our issues

I could not have explained it any better thank you John for your help. As for your answer Intelchips yes it is the same process going from E4-E5, and E5-E6. When going up for E7 it’s not just taking the test and your evals but also making the board. The board is a group of Chiefs from all rates that convene and are briefed on what level someone in that rate should be at and what personal accomplishments they have completed, like college, community service, etc...

Hello John
Unless I have failed to understand what I’ve read about the AECF program to graduating from A school they become push button E4s without having to go thru the process you just described. However, what I don’t understand at this point is if ETs and FCs then have to follow the example you laid out as they go from E4 to E5? Etc.
