Where does he get the materials he needs to study for E4? I'm asking because I plan on staying on top of my boy, coaching, etc.

Thanks!

Tim: All I can say is study, study, study, and have a good eval. He needs to stand out from the rest.

bontragerrider,

You might find all your questions about all things SEALs over on: http://www.navyseals.com/forums/index.php

They even have SEAL fitness trainers that will take your questions and I think there is some help in locating pre-training available there also. It's a large resource so read deeply. Good luck to your son.

Cheers

My son is in the DEP program. His rating is to enter the navy as a ABH. His entry date is in June. His real choice is for SEALS. He supposedly has been ok'd to enter the SEAL program. The entry date for the basic and SEAL school is february. This is where he and his parents want for him.The pttey Officer here in Tucson that is designated for SEAL DEP almost never shows up for scheduled appointments for training. The boy doesn't seem to be getting any help at the recruiting office. Does anyone know what options we have short of leaving?

Greetings. What can my son do now to make the "short course" to E4. In other words, get promoted the first time around. He just graduated BC and checked into corpsman school yesterday.

Thanks for all you do!

Thanks Sean and no worries about when you replied. I'm just glad you did! I'll pass that info on to my friend. I was surprised to read that the Navy jobs are getting fewer. That really doesn't seem possible. Is it the same for the other branches?

Cindy: sorry for getting back to your question so late. In regards to your question all I can say is needs of the Navy. In the past it was quit common to get the orders you wanted, but this year I am seeing it happen quit differently. With the economy the way it is the Navy is filling up fast. In nine years of recruiting I have never seen it like this. The amount of jobs in the Navy is getting fewer and fewer by the day. People are looking for work and the Navy has great benefits and security.

Ivan: Yes your daughter can get back in but it won't be easy. She will have to prove that she can pass the PT test before she can get back in. I hate to have to tell you this but with the way things are in the Navy right now, the Navy can be picky on who they put in because the Navy is not hurting for people right now.

Hi, first let me say THANKS for your service. My question has to do with my daughter who is in BC now and hopes to PIR 12/05/08. She has been in BC since 08/12/08 and still has not passed her PFA. She was sent to FIT after missing PIR with her original Div. While in FIT she and another recruit had a pass to go to NEX. While there they lost track of time and got in trouble. The review board took them both out of FIT and into a new Div. Now she has 1 last chance to pass her run and make her PFA. If she doesn't per the review board she will be sent home. Could she sign back up for the Navy if she gets sent home? She wants to be a Sailor. Is there an appeal process she could do? I hope she can make her time, she is less than a minute off. Should she not I am trying to see what her options are to get in the Navy. Time is short and I hope to fund out something. We saw her at Thanksgiving and she was so proud to wear her dress blues!

Okay you two....I'm asking this question for a friend who's husband is with my son in GL for corpsman school. They will graduate 12/12. Both received their orders to report to Camp Pendleton for FMTB. Morgan, my son, is on cloud 9. Fred didn't want it. I know these guys/gals fill out a 'dream sheet'. Are these even considered when they decide who goes where? Why would they assign something, as important as this, to someone who doesn't want it?

Not at all go right ahead. It’s funny that you are a Recruiter from Tucson because that’s were I 'am from and was recruited out of. I was also a Recruiter out their from 2000 to 2004 at the reserve center as a reserve recruiter, I use to work with NC1 Frazier
