we had a member post this to me-- perhaps one of you can answer--

I am sorry, but I cant seem to get this answered anywhere else. I am currently enrolled in college to get 15 college credits in order to become a Navy SEAL. I have to get these credits because I took online classes a portion of my high school. All of my classes are tier 100 and over. Am I correct in the idea that this is the only requirements of my credits? (That they be tier 100 or over?)

Thank you.

Hello,
I was previously in the army reserve but never got activated, therefore I do not have a dd214 (I have one from boot camp). I have my discharge order but they do not have an re-code on them. I want to enlist in Navy, but my recruiters having a hard time because I have no re-code. What would you suggest I do?

I heard that the Navy is not taking HM's right now? Is there any truth to this? My son is enlisting in the DEP within the next few weeks and he wants to be a Medic. I posted this in Medic Group also.

Sounds good, thanks for the info.

Kirk,
The advice I would give you is to talk directly to the Zone Supervisor (you can get your son's recruiter to get you together, if not his/her phone number), explain to them that your son has been DQ'ed and that he does not intend to resubmit for entry to the Navy. IF for some reason they stonewall, then let them know that your next step will be to call the Recruiting Command Headquarters and will asking to speak to the Commanding Officer. MEPS is not the place anyone will be helping you, even though they hold the item(s) in question. I hope this helps.

I have a question about cutting thru some red tape if possible. My son was DQ'd by the Navy because his high school grades were an issue. H went comm college and graduated from their police academy with a 3.5 gpa. His asvab score is 83. The navy still won't talk to him but the air force will. He's having a problem getting his info back from the navy. The AF wants to see a medical waiver he got and the Navy is giving him the run around. Any quick way to get his files from MEPS and turn it in to the AF? Any way to get the phone number for the Navy personnel at MEPS?

Thanks Chief West.....I was in a particularly nasty mood when I posted that...too much work and way too little appreciation for it....didn't mean to sound so negative!!

I'll save your post and add it to the bootcamp info in the group somewhere!! Thanks again.........

To all who are having problems getting their childrens' recruiter to forward the ship/div info - IF the recruiter in charge does not handle it, you need to ask for the Zone Supervisor, if nothing happens there, the next one you should ask and speak to is the Assistant Chief Recruiter, then the Chief Recruiter. IF all that fails, then my next step would be to contact the Commanding Officer. I would wait no more than 1-2 days between contacts (ZS, ACR, CR).
I can tell you that the last thing a recruiter wants (or needs) is negative attention.
If for some reason you have a hard time locating the Commanding Officer's contact information, you should be able to type in your area and "navy recruiting" and should find the homepage for the NRD you are in.

I hope this helps.

this is getting really frustrating seeing posts like this in the bootcamp group:

augh... ..Son reported aboard RTC on 9/9 and still no form letter. Been trying to get his Ship/Div from his recruiter since Monday (they're supposedly have that info within 72 hours of reporting) - no joy. The waiting sucks. Even his dog has a letter waiting to be mailed.

this was my reply:

yeah...I have a real issue with recruiters not providing that info on a timely basis...as far as I'm concerned, if the recruiter doesn't want to provide that sort of info they should head back to fleet and head down to the galley where they can "crank" for a month or two.....

To whom should I direct a query about why this is happening?

No, he's had no contact with the reserve people at all. His specialty is in high demands, and is understaffed. Neither he nor anyone he has talked to, including the command at C school know why they pushed reserve.
Probably because reservists are rarely in this rate, the recruiters didn't guess he would get into this program. By the time he interviewed into it, the contract was signed.
