Larry, my son earned an E3 rating due to 4 yrs in NJROTC, while in BC he was considered as an E1 and paid as such, however at his PIR he was wearing his E3 rate and was paid his back pay in his 1st check after BC so if he has it coming he will get his rate and his back pay.

Cheif West,
My son did PIR on 04DEC09. When he was in DEP his recruiter had John do some advanced physical qualifications and other tests to obtain an e-2 rating before he went to boot. We were lucky enough to see our son for the Thanksgiving holiday. I was surprised not to see his e-2 rating reflected on his uniform and John said his w-4 said he was e-1. When we returned home I placed a call to his recruiter. He told me that all recruits are e-1 until graduation and then they are changed to e-2 if they had earned it and that he had John's paperwork turned in. He also said that John would get paid the difference on his first pay after graduation. While at PIR I noticed that lots of graduates had "french fries" on their uniforms indicating e-2 & e-3 ratings. Was I told the truth in this case? If so why wouldn't John have his rating reflected on his uniform? If the recruiter did not do the paperwork correctly is there anything that can be done to correct this? John will be attending AECF ET A school. Thanks for any advice you can give on this.

Hi Chief West, I posted a question/comment sometime back and never really got an answer (Maybe there isn't one), my son was DQ'd due to grades in school even though he did get his diploma. He scored well on the ASVAB (83) but he did need a waiver for ADHD and he got full clearances from our family doctor. The DQ came from the Final Waiver Authority. He has since been accepted into a local Police Academy and once he completes his Associates Degree he would like to re-apply for military service. If his grades are good in school can he re-apply or is he done? I get the feeling that his recruiter was so busy with people who didn't need waivers that he didn't get his best effort.

Paul,
We are still around. Just trying to find highly qualified (more than usual) young people for the few jobs we have available. Is there something in particular we need to address?

My son has his hard copy of his orders. It has been quite a haul. Praise the Lord he has completed the A and C school training to be able to do his job come tomorrow. I am a very proud navy mom.

My question is: Does the navy help pay for his airfare and the shipping of his personal belongings at this point? it is very expensive. Thank the Lord I was able to talk him out of purchasing a vehicle that would also have to be shipped. Any help would be most appreciated. Have a great day. Proud of all of out sailors/military.

Bryan,
Thanks for the info, really don't want to get rid of him but wanted to know if his rating would alter his departure date.

I would like to contact my son's recruiter to let him know how well he has done in the Navy. My son enlisted 8 years ago and has since become an officer. How can I find the recruiter?

Hey Dan. The answer to your question about how they get there boot camp dates is it all depends on two things. One is if there is availability at boot camp to get a bed to sleep in and also when the start date is for their "A" school. It has nothing to do with geographic location. I hope I answered your question and if you have any more question I'm here for you.

I have a question regarding DEP. Are deployment dates to GL based on geographic numbers or rating needs?
