Our daughter got to the last test as a Rescue Swimmer, but couldn't quite master all the evolutions to pass, this back in early May 2011. She was able to stay in Aviation, and selected Flight Engineer on a P3 Orion. She has just completed her preliminary schooling, and will start her first A school, AE training on Monday. Is anyone familiar with the FE rate on a P3, or have anyone in training now. Would appreciate any info, or a point to a group/forum that might have some info.

Glenn, our son is a Flight Engineer with VP-40 out of Whidbey Island, Washington. He is currently deployed overseas but really likes it. He graduated from NAS Jacksonville in February of this year and is currently a "nugget" which means he still has an instructor on board but he does the job of FE.
Our son Brian is a Flight Engineer on the P-3 with VP-30 up at Whidbey Island. He has been deployed several times and just found out that he is going to Flight Engineer Instructor school. I believe he will be one of the youngest instructors around. He is pretty happy to visit with anyone just starting out and giving them pointers and so forth!
I'm a retired Flt Eng if you have any questions feel free to ask
AWE I think is what they call it, my son just finished AWV which is avionics and he is at SERE training now
MY son is in his final days of FE school for the P3. WE are flying out to Jacksonville later this month to see him and attend the graduation ceremony. It sounds like he really like the plane and all the people he serves with.
Be sure to see St Augustine Florida while you are in the area. It is the oldest city in the United States.
My dad was an FE.
Best Wishes to you and your son.

Glenn how did everything go for your daughter?
We are proud she decided to join the Navy.
