Patrol Squadron (VP) 4, "Skinny Dragons", for the VP category!! :) I think I lost years off my life to get this thing. Thanks to my LPO and chiefs for standing by us AEs to keep us going...

Vincent,

**This is the disclaimer: you read this and take the info I tell but you can do nothing to change it. The best thing you can do is encourage her to maybe try something. She can always ask questions but navy always has final answer.**

In 'a' school she will be paid to eat at the chow hall. Anything she does off base is out of her pocket. That may sound different but I ate out many times on the weekends but weekdays it is easier to eat at the chow hall. It is one of the best, if not the best, chow halls in the navy. She will get paid differently once she get orders and moves to her new command.
If she is on hold before or after she schools she will live in the barracks. She can't get around that. She most likely be in 'delta' barracks. That is where the girls live. 'c' school will have barracks as well. As for her first command she will live in the barracks until she gets paid to live out in town. I won't say too much here but, she will be living where the navy says until she is at least E-4.
I went through all of this already for a and c school and at my command and it is not bad at all.

Greetings if anyone could please provide me with the following information: Is there a pay rating that includes food pay and all of the other "supplements"?. Where does one live when they are finished with their 5 weeks of A school at Pensacola and receive their first command? Or in the alternative doe they report to "C" school?  Do people live off base as an E-3 or do they have to wait until they become Petty Officer 3rd Class? Are the E-3's entitled to AH pay (off-Base Housing)? Is there a way to find out what is available to the SR on base in Pensacola?  Thanks group!

Mine took his cell to. P'cola eith him. They were told they could take a plain black backpack with them, so some also took laptops with them. But, it will depend on their officers as to what they are allowed to have/use.

Vincent,
What did your daughter graduate with from college?

She will not be alowed to have anything other than her boot camp things until she arrives Pensacola. It would be easier if you mail them to Florida. Keep in mind also that she will have walk the boxes back to her barracks. So keep the boxes small enough to carry.

Dear Jim,

Thank you for your response. Should we bring her lap top and cell phone to graduation from Great Lakes on March 2 or otherwise? Supposedly, she is being sent to Pensacola via O'Hare the morning after she graduates.
