Andrew Phoned on Sunday during the Steelers game. He was telling me that the combined maintenance group will be separated into their respective squadrons. He is now pretty sure that he will not be deployed at this time. He is still working through the required "Quals".
He tells us that he likes the area. He has one problem. The base is not near anything. None of the off base stuff is with in walking distance and without a car you’re out of luck. His room mate is working on getting his car shipped. I have encouraged him to get to the Marines version of MWR (Morale, welfare, & recreation) and find if the have some sort of share the ride program or bulletin board. Andrew's work hours have been getting in the way of looking into too many options. He is resourceful on his own. I know he will figure it out.

Congrats Keith. Maybe Kristen can give us a ride in her new vehicle one day. lol I have a friend who flies a black hawk and claims that the day he retires call the paper, press, and whoever else because he is going to roll it on his last day. Helo pilots are insane. Tell Kristen one of the jokes they like to play on the scarred soldiers riding with them for me. He and the Co-pilot will argue about something. One of them will grab for the key and threaten to yank it out and shut this mother off. Then one of them will yank it out. He said it gets them every time. Once you start the helicopter you can take the key out it won't turn off until you turn the computers off. So the key is useless in the air. He said it freaks them out. Gotta love the ones that are crazy enough to fly them. Tell Kristen congrats from me. It's great to have our very first Navy pilot here with us at Navydads. I know that you are a very proud father.

That's the USN ROI (return on investment). Duty days may be long, especially if many aircraft are needing maintenance. Some days you may just "muster and make it", heading home after a few minutes. glad to hear he is fitting in and gaining experience. Blessings, Kevin

Andrew’s duty section worked a 13 hour day this past Saturday. Andrew was called in early in the morning and work late into the afternoon. The Navy put him right in mix and he is getting to work and gain experience.

Makes all that training and school worth it!

Andrew has been put to work. He is a combined maintenance group and they have been taking him along to work on the planes. He seems to be enjoying putting his training to work.

We got a call from Andrew tonight and he is settling in at the Marine Base Hawaii. He told us it is very beatiful area. Looks like he may be sent to join his squadron on deployment.
