Wow EG Evan has really gotten to see a lot in a short time! That is awesome, he will have stories for years about all these experiences! Update on Wes and his orders. . .he still hasn't gotten them so if they don't come in this week he said it will be after Thanksgiving. It is hard to plan a trip when I don't know either way :(. . . .Chuck - yes he is in Pensacola and graduated A-school on Halloween.

Hello Airdales! I wanted to drop by and say Evan is doing well. He is finishing up his first cruise. They arrived in Hawaii today and will be back home by Thanksgiving. His emotions were all over the place during this first cruise. It takes some getting used to living on a ship with nothing but water around. So I'm warning everyone their are good days and bad days while out at sea. So your children maybe the same as Evan was. He experienced some exciting ports while overseas. Bahrain, Dubai, Singapore, and Hawaii. All in all he has enjoyed it. He has finally passed another stage in his journey through the Navy. He is coming home for Christmas so we are very happy for that. I just wanted to give an update on my Sailor. I hope everyone's Sailor is doing well. Keep me posted on how their doing. Talk to y'all soon.

Is your son at Pensacola? Andrew waited about a month for orders after A school.

My son might be there, waiting on his orders still. . . .I am hoping they don't come in until after the Thanksgiving holiday! He mentioned Whidbey as a good possibility if he gets Hawaii, he will go there first. I am praying he gets the east coast so I can see him! Keep your fingers crossed and send up those prayers :).

Greetings and welcome.
My son finished AE A School at the end of September in Pensacola. Tell Nick the story about six months may or may not be true. Most seem to get orders pretty quick. Andrew met at least one sailor that had been waiting a number of months for a class to start.
Andrew finished A school in around Labor day and received orders by the end of September. He was home for about a week and the off to C school at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. He is currently working at the base medical answering the phone and any other odd jobs that they have for him. His "class up" is Nov 13.
One thing that I would mention to you is that rate is equal to rank in the other branches of the military. Rating is equal to M.O.S. or job specialty. Confusing... I know, the just the nature of the beast and the Navy tradition.
On the main page of this web site in the left column there is a group of helpful links that gives a lot of information about the Navy.

My son joined 7/9, graduated 9/5. Attended ATT in GL and completed that 10/15. He arrived in Pensacola 10/23. He said he has two days of indoc, three days of some other class and is supposed to start his A school on 11/3. He also said that he would be there for about six months, even though his school is only 4 weeks because they are behind on orders. He also said something about C school but doesn't know much about that yet.
