FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 9, 2011

Release #: 009-11

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, will resume all previously scheduled performances for the 2011 season beginning with Quad City Air Show in Davenport, Iowa, June 18-19.

During the past two weeks, the Blue Angels completed rigorous training and air show demonstration practice to integrate Capt. Greg McWherter, the new commanding officer and flight leader, back into the flight demonstration team. Capt. McWherter last served with the Blue Angels as their commanding officer during the 2010 season.

The Blue Angels look forward to continuing to represent the Navy and Marine Corps service members around the world.

David knew nothing about it so I have to assume it didn't happen.  I would have to think the F-18s that did the event were grey and not blue and gold but I'm just guessing.  Apparently, when F-18s do flyovers, they often get mistaken for the Blues.  Other than practices, which are now open for public viewing, their first real appearance should be in Iowa in a week and a half.  Fly Navy!

Apparently, the fly over in Mobile was not the Blues but another Navy squadron.  Things are looking good in Pensacola, however!  The Blues will not be flying in Evansville, IN, this coming weekend but they have reopened their P'cola practice sessions to the public:

Blue Angels practices are now open to the public! We practice just about every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 8:30, and you can view the practices from behind the National Naval Aviation Museum. For questions about the museum, please call 850-452-3604. You can also find our practice schedule on our website at www.blueangels.navy.mil under the Show Information tab. - BAPA

The Quad City air show scheduled for June 18 and 19 in Davenport, IA, is still a go!  Fly Navy!
