Wow!  Thanks for all that you guys do for the Blues, Ed!  I don't think David knows about you, yet.  I will definitely let him know!  He will be the "B" Crew Chief for the #1 jet this year, unless something changes between now and the air show season.

Thank you Mike, it's good to be on board. As a member of the US Navy League Imperial Valley Council , we sponsor the Blue Angels Flight Team. At our February dinner with the Blues, they announce the new team for 2011. We also have the Desert Outing weekend with the Blues and much more while they are here. Please look us up at our web site for more information.

While your son is here, please have him contact me, so I can treat him to a fine steak dinner or two or three.  I have two son in the Navy, One is a Hospital Corpsman assigned to FMF Camp Pendelton and the other an Airman on the Abe.

Welcome, Ed!  And, thanks for the info!  They arrived on Monday and my son was very impressed with the nearby mountains.  He didn't have much time to talk so we're hoping to hear from him again this weekend.  I think they were to begin training yesterday.

Allow me to chime in, El Centro California is the winter home of the Blues. Here we have wide open spaces, a first class Naval Air Facility and a minimal amount of commercial air traffic.  The Blues have several open ranges to practice their manuevers or train new pilots.  The great Mexican food and outstanding support of the Imperial Valley folks makes NAF El Centro a pretty nice place for the Blues.  The nice weather is just a part of it :)

Hi Jim,

Hi Jim,

Without doing any research, I would have to venture a guess:

The weather is warmer and drier than P'cola, and they can fly 3 times per day without disturbing anyone.  I'll try to remember to ask David during one of his calls.  I'm curious, too.

The Blues should be heading from Pensacola to El Centro, CA, today to begin winter training for the 2011 show season!  It won't be long now!

The Blues finish up the 2010 air show season this weekend: The Homecoming Air Show is held at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Florida, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 11, 12 & 13, 2010. Gate admission is free.
