Navy Dads

Our son joined the Navy a few weeks ago and was given a boot camp date of Feb 2012.  He will be joining as a Hospital Corpsman.  Can anyone tell me if they pretty much stick to this date or is there a chance he will go in earlier?

My son's boot camp date was December but he also asked for an earlier date and they put him on a "waitlist".  A spot opened so now he's going August 16 instead.  If there's an opening it may be for a different job though.

Thanks for the information John.  I hope all goes well with your son.  Blessings, Kim

My son enlisted in DEP in Aug. 2010 as an HM. He had a shipping out date of Aug. 9,2011. His recruiter kept telling us that he may be able to get him out earlier. Maybe by October so we changed our vacation plans. Then it was by the first of the year. After that is was maybe by springtime. He was finally sworn in and left for BC on Aug. 9,2011. I'd say they pretty much stick to the date they give you. He's been there two weeks now and seems to be doing good. Got his PIR date of Oct. 7,2011 so we're looking forward to that. Good luck to you and your son.
