Thought id Change this thread to Call and Letter updates. Please feel free to post when you get a call or letter with the company Ship and div along with time and date. This really helps in letting some know a call or letter is forthcoming soon. It also keeps the moral up even though it might not be your sailor that has been in contact ....YET....
Happy new year!!!

Sorry to be late on this update. My son is a section leader on Ship 11 Div 063. We all had about a 20 minute phone call with him yesterday around 11am. He was about to go on duty watch, his first. He made the comment that not all divisions were so lucky as to have phone privileges. He sounded great! He to had 4 wisdom teeth pulled right off the bat and I think he said 11 shots! Told me some of his future phone privileges depended on getting his times under 11min and scoring a perfect 5.0 on his first test. Said food was great! But was really looking forward to seeing us on 2/11 to get away and go out to eat pizza. Luckily many were here at the house when he called... Got to speak with his sister, Grandpa (former Navy), Grandma and my wife. All agreed, he sounded good! It was truly a priceless Christmas gift!
Its nearly 5 pm out west here and nothing yet. Hes on ship 9 div 69. keeping our fingers crossed.
Hello mark. My son is also with Ship 9 Div 69. We have not had a call or letter since the form letter. Have you received anything?

My son is on Ship 9 Div 69 - We got our first letter yesterday, Dec 30th! Made our day!
We got a letter yesterday as well!!!! Ship 9 div 071. A few things he said. Hes in a all male div. His bunkbuddy is from the UK. They had christmas routine on christmas eve becuase they didnt want to have back to back off days and did training on christmas day. They are a regular routine now. Pretty much the same stuff every day. Said they had to make it rain a few times(Im thinking you guys know what that is) due to some guys not doing what was asked during marching. They are finally standing QD watches and he had to do his at 0300. Im gonna tell him that was good cause not alot going on at 0300 in the am. Good luck to the rest...Hope you hear something as well.
Well I got a call from my son just now Jan 7 around 4:30 from, Ship 09 Div 071. We talked for about 8-1/2 minutes. He said they just finished week 2 of training in his division. He said it takes about 5-6 days for mail to arrive but he is indeed getting all the mail I sent him, and he is reading all it. He said Dad, I am just too busy to write back, I only get 6 hours of sleep and have to take care of all of my stuff, which is fine with me. He said he knows all the stuff he was supposed to study. He kept saying, Dad, I am fine. He is in good health the food is good, and he is keeping up, and has met the other nukes and is making friends in the division. He has a cold like a lot of the people there but is just working through it. Sounded upbeat and confident though tired. Somehow I thought they were finishing week 3 of training by now but I guess with the holidays it is now the end of week 2 of actual training. He said he did not expect to call again until near graduation nears.
