Navy Dads

My son's PIR was last Friday. Everything was smooth. They do this every week, so, they have it figured out. We took the shuttle from the Ramada in Waukegan at 7am. Parking is right next to the PIR building. There was 900 grads with 2-6 people per is a bunch. They look at your ID and check you off a list your recruit gave them. I don't know about more than 4.The place was packed but empty seats as well. They have signs on the floor to tell you which section by Division to set in. Very nice. Places for handicapped. Security is present.

They march in around 9 and pass in review. It is fun to try and pick yours out of all those white uniforms and hats. They look the same but not. They have flags in the front that has their division #.

It all went by quick. When released, they stay put and you go to them. We took a taxi back to the hotel to pick up the rental car. It was a set fee of $3.00.

One thing that is difficult is the schedule for leaving for A School. The recruiter was of no help and actually provided wrong information. He told us Alex would leave Monday or Tuesday, but he left that night. We,of course, had our flights set tp go back Monday and work schedules adjusted. That left us with the week end there and no son to do them with. Waukegan isn't a place to spend free time.

We went to Chicago and did the tourist things down town. But I would of rather spent the time with our son.
