Navy Dads

The box was sitting under my carport when I got home yesterday. Going thru it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I had heard about the box, and to expect. The only odd thing I discovered was a small bible was in his bag. His address book wasn't in it, but the bible was. He thought he could keep them both. He may have just gotten caught up in the excitement, and forgot to get it out. Still waiting to get the mailing address, and PIR date.

He got to RTC May 7th.

Hey Marvin, welcome to the group.  Yeah, he probably was being rushed and forgot to take the bible out.  You should get the "Form" letter in about a week with his address and PIR date.  Basic is typicall 8 weeks from the day they arrive.  The first few days are processng days and don't count in the training schedule. He will get to call you around the 4th week. I hope the 8 weeks go by quick for you.  They seemed like eternity for me.  I'm going to my Sailor's PIR on Friday 5-17-13.  I'll be leaving California Thursday morning and I can't wait to see him.  Unfortunately we won't get to spend very much time together because they have to be back on base by 9 pm in their barracks and they ship out the next morning to "A" school.  Enjoy the experience.  We all go through it.

Congrats on your son's PIR. Not sure what Facebook page your talking about.

Congrats!!  My son's PIR is going to be on 5/24.  He will be heading off to Goose Creek SC for "A" school.

I would advise getting in on the Face Book Page for your son's PIR.  BC is 8 weeks and his PIR should be that Friday. By my calculations this should be the 5th of July.  Although with the Holiday being the day before I'm not sure.  Can you contact his Recruiting Officer?  I am sure that they would have this information.

Thanks. I saw the video. Every SR parent should watch it!
