My son mentioned he didn't pass his first physical test. Said he struggled with the running time. So, what happens if he doesn't pass the second one?

I don't know how many tries they get, but at some point he'll have to pass....it only hurts for about 12-13 minutes....
Don't worry too much Brad. They get three tries according to my son who's PIR was 9-23. He failed his first two as well and struggled with it, but he said his RDC's ran with him daily and also had him run with a faster group so that it would push him. On his last attempt he had a minute to spare. My son said his RDC's had him running daily and beating him daily which he said also helped him get into shape. He really enjoyed boot camp. Just tell your son to hang in there, don't get discouraged and that he can do it. That's about all you can do on your end. I know I stressed over him not passing over the first two attempts.
Thanks. That makes me feel a bit better. I don't know how far off he is.
Thanks Hannah. Good to hear. I can't imagine he was that far off on his time, but who knows? I knew there were no exceptions for making it.
I believe so as well. He's not finding boot camp nearly as fun as he thought it would be.
LOL! Yes, I tried telling my SR to get himself in gear, but he was convinced the extra work would be good for him. Now he says IT just isn't as much fun as he thought it would be. Can't wait to hear his stories.
My SR did not pass his Final PT, missed the run by 5 seconds and did not go through Battle Stations with his Division, then did not pass last Tuesday, missed by 8 seconds, so he is not graduating with his Division. He has another try today and if he passes he will go through Battle Stations with another Division. Hopefully, today is the charm.
What a shame. My son didn't make it until the third try. With him so close, I'm sure your son will make it.
Yes, he did, by close to a minute under the required time. Thanks,
Sailorette failed her first run too. She is ranked 4.0 right now so I imagine she finally got it.
Public schools are really letting us down on this. In Junior high we were required to do a 1 mile run twice a week every week under 8 minutes. I am not kidding when I tell you that was rain or shine. The service is really only asking slightly better, but come on this is junior high vs soldiers. In high school I remember running but dont remember them ever caring if you even did it or not. Its a shame.
