Let's Have a Clearing House for Care Package Ideas and Addresses

Many of us send care packages to our sons and daughters scattered around the globe. Often we would like to do more....

I thought we might use this space to develop ideas of things to ship to our troops protecting our freedom. Also we might look at setting up a list of addresses that we could use to ship to. It is Girl Scout cookie season and I know one of our members sends cookies to troops all over. I've sent phone cards to combat areas through the USO so our soldiers could call home for the holidays. I'm sure there are hundreds of ideas out there....lets support our troops by sending them the things from home they miss and to let them them know that America supports them.

I've had some requests for the care package label template:

Yes...that is why I was thinking about a vacuum packed bag, or something along those lines. I know that there are NO preservatives to be had in my cookies...or maybe I could make my rice krispies treats...Yuuummmmmmmmmmmm, I have the munchies now as well.

along those lines.....I remember going to Costco and buying tons of the chocolate biscotti....threw them all in a big box and sent them to the media department on the Lincoln where Kat worked....she told me the entire box was gone in like 40 minutes.....

Hey all...I make a mean chocolate chip cookie and Alex was the first of my 3 kids to get to clean off the beaters from the blender... I am wondering if one of those vacuum packaging thinga ma jigs would help out in sending some of those along in a package? Or would it go to waste and be a giant green fuzz filled plastic bag by the time he received it? Any input would be much appreciated...

Care package made easy, you can go to usps.com and order your boxes and FORM 2976-A customs forms and have them delivered to your home at no charge. They will even pick them up for delivery

Seems like you could go to Howto.com

Another eay to send "spice" to guys in the field would be to send packets of those red chili prinkles like we use on pizza. Send it in the original package inside a zip loc so they have a baggie to put it in after it is opened. It is light weight, a little goes a long way and you don't have to ship heavy jars. Not supposed to ship glass anyway and they don't have a way to refrigerate an open bottle anyway in 130 degree heat.

Hello everyone,

Well, now that it is deer season I'm wanting to do as Paige and some others did last deer season. They made and sent deer jerky to our troops overseas and it was a big hit. I dropped my sons deer at the processor this morning and I'm having them slice it into jerky strips. One problem! I've never made jerky before. So I'm looking for some recipes & direction. I also spoke with the owner of the processor and he is willing to donate some deer for this cause. I'll hit up camp members, friends, etc to have a ton of deer meat donated for this year. I'm also looking for ideas on where and who to send the jerky to. This we all be done & sent on behalf of our family here on Navydads.com. I'll try to send as many packs of jerky to not only our troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan but to deployed ships overseas. I'll keep a count on how many pounds and how many packages I send out this year. Hopefully this will go well and will only get bigger and bigger each year. Each deer will cost about 50 dollars to process into strips plus shipping cost to send overseas. If anyone would like to donate to this cause it will process and send more deer overseas then I can afford to do myself. Also when I pick up my sons deer next week I'm going to see if the processor will cut a better rate on processing . Let me know what you think and the best way to make Jerky our troops!
