Let's Have a Clearing House for Care Package Ideas and Addresses

Many of us send care packages to our sons and daughters scattered around the globe. Often we would like to do more....

I thought we might use this space to develop ideas of things to ship to our troops protecting our freedom. Also we might look at setting up a list of addresses that we could use to ship to. It is Girl Scout cookie season and I know one of our members sends cookies to troops all over. I've sent phone cards to combat areas through the USO so our soldiers could call home for the holidays. I'm sure there are hundreds of ideas out there....lets support our troops by sending them the things from home they miss and to let them them know that America supports them.

I've had some requests for the care package label template:

When I send Care Packages to my Sailor I always add books, magazines, sample size toliteries & tell him to pass them around.... Sometimes I send a book of jokes..... Jonis is in Japan... They seem to enjoy that kind of thing..

I feel totally bad that I never sent a care package to my son when he was in basic or after that. What a bad mom I am... I sent him a card I think, But I know I wrote him letters, or should I say books. He loved my letters, because he liked to know what was going on in that head of mine. This group sounds like its going to be fun. I am glad I joined. well gotta get hubby out for work. TAlk soon

That might be an excellent idea for a group Jim. Might want to consider getting names for letters of support from the Chaplain at the base....and extend that to the Chaplain on the various ships as well when in the fleet. A lot of work, but a worthy cause for sure....................

They are wonderful ( I'd buy them for my sons gold bag) They are light and cheaper to ship.
I was wondering .....over on N4M's we have a "Rescue Group" and at times we send out cards and little things to some that maybe never get mail or packages or might just be a little down..... ( I've sent letters to people in boot camp that have not received one letter from home/ which I just can't believe) I'd would be more than happy to do that over here too. So if anyone knows anyone that could use a little cheer please send me the info and I'll get something sent out.............peace and blessing to you

A fast by-the-way post: one of the other big things mentioned on my Tiger Cruise that the sailors really liked were the small individual packages of Crystal Lite that were the size to open and pour into a bottle of water. I haven't looked for them in the store now that both of my sailors are back on land, but they'er about 2 1/2 " long each and maybe 1/2" in diameter. Pretty handy to have around and they seemed to really be popular......

Jim the last word that I received is that it hasn't made it yet. I too would have thought it should be there. I will post here as soon as I know it arrives.
