Let's Have a Clearing House for Care Package Ideas and Addresses

Many of us send care packages to our sons and daughters scattered around the globe. Often we would like to do more....

I thought we might use this space to develop ideas of things to ship to our troops protecting our freedom. Also we might look at setting up a list of addresses that we could use to ship to. It is Girl Scout cookie season and I know one of our members sends cookies to troops all over. I've sent phone cards to combat areas through the USO so our soldiers could call home for the holidays. I'm sure there are hundreds of ideas out there....lets support our troops by sending them the things from home they miss and to let them them know that America supports them.

I've had some requests for the care package label template:

Updated (7 Sept 2013)!! here is the Microsoft Publisher template- Avery 5163 label:

Well, I finally have it up and running. We can now make donations into the PayPal account. I will keep everyone updated on the amount we raise. Everyone keep posting suggestions on things we should buy to send the Sailors. I know that we are also sending jerky, cake, etc those will not have to be sent off as quickly. The money we raise, I will buy items, package them, and send them to our Sailors.

I kepted up with the news all weekend on the progress of the Pirates/Hostage situation. Like you all, I am extremely proud of the job the Navy has done.
I will plan on making a large batch of jerky this weekend to donate to the care package and add some money if I'm able.

Lauren, if you want to make jerky, you can dry it in the oven also. It will probably take longer than using a dehydrator, but it will work.

Count me in. Unfortunately, I did my taxes this weekend. I am on the giving side instead of the receiving side this tax season. :(

So far we have raised $200 dollars and have suggestions of sending magazines, cookies, jerky, and calling cards. The easiest way for NavyDads to take donations for this cause will be to add a Paypal donation button to the site or this group tomorrow. We will want to get this package off to the Bainbridge as quickly as we can. So if you want to donate a dollar amount you will have to have a Paypal account to do so. 100% of what is donated will be going to the Sailors on the USS Bainbridge as a thank you from NavyDads.com for their Heroism.
Thanks again for every one's generosity,
EG
